You can't bunch together Microsoft and Yahoo. Microsoft is growing and innovating rapidly in the enterprise space. They are grabbing market share from AWS in the cloud space. Linux is a first party citizen on Azure and this is a fact that most enterprises understand today.

yes, i did read this. Well.. if you are talking about the growth rate, the article also mentions a small whisper on "Size" of the market.. considering the size as well, what would be the deduction then.. i am fine, with being wrong as well. I am OK to wait n see if my opinion of MSoft,yahoo etc are proved wrong in time - its fine. The topic here started with, what looked like a cost-cutting motive to me ( OP sees racism, which i didnt agree with ). You can't be more wrong. We have so many F100 companies running open source and Linux workloads on Azure. Enterprises understand our proposition and that we are not windows centric. Let me be very specific on this point, it was probably misleading. When we explore research ideas in BigData, ML we start with Windows solutions. We do have desktops or small Sandboxes setup to play with. For starters nothing beats Windows & the ecosystem, and starting lo we just explore ideas, do lots of visualisation. But when you do want to churn out scalable applications, most of stack is already some sort of Linux variant - so the python apps are just ported... its not most intuitive to explain the SDLC, but then we end up using most of these trial,small Azure setups and goto AWS finally  there is an aggressive push from MSoft to adopt Azure, i know first hand, at enterprise level. But again, its cos our mentality is hard-wired.. Small apps -> Windows, and Enterprise Apps -> Linux, batch. It would be extremely hard for MSoft to jump streams and be able to wash away this prejudice... it isnt impossible. But you ask me the possibly ? and the roadmap - i would doubt it.. | ||

Excellent. As I said earlier, we are not a Windows shop anymore. We love Linux. As long as you use Azure, it doesn't matter if you are running your workloads on Windows or Linux.
Nope. You can still use Linux, Kafka, Apache Spark - etc and use our ML services. Individual perspective kaadhu - enterprise stack.
 Azure is the scale motion. Why would someone start with Azure and go to AWS for scaling? We have more regions than AWS. Of course. There is no monopoly situation at all. Agreed. But Microsoft is competing with those small firms and doing a great job. Each individual unit in Microsoft has the freedom to choose their roadmap. Inthaku mundhu laa "Everything should be from a Windows point of view" is not there anymore. Windows is a dying breed. Microsoft wants to provide user experiences that cut across all OSs. Inthaku mundhulaa Windows single division kaadhu ippudu. Server and Core os components team is merged with Azure. Azure lo VM konte, storage konte, you have great hooks to use ML and IOT integrations seamlessly. Blockchain complete infra ni single click tho setup chese solution accelerators unnaayi. There's a lot that MS is doing. It does upsell. Not to you. But to enterprises. Again, I am coming back to the same point. You are writing it off because it doesn't have a consumer success story. Also, if there are senior folks on that floor - it will still have better maintenance & more facility headcount.
