What and whose behaviour? I have pointed out the facts of the performers. They had something to work with that they can't go out of on the spot. Yes, the audience definitely needed more Telugu songs. But was the orchestra ready to play it? No. Behaviour? If I was an artist like Raja, I too would be upset. Toronto reviews show that he was much more curt with Tamil audience. So does that mean Raja hates Tamils? I am reading unbelievably negative reviews of the Toronto concert. SPB again, is the best thing of any concert. He tried his best. He is the only person who can ever Question Raja and get away with it and he tried to bring some interesting tidbits. Even teasing Chithra(he does that so often) has been misconstrued. Actually, SPB adores and loves Chithra like another younger sister. He has stated many times that Kerala is home to his brother and sister(Yesudas and Chithra). She and Sujatha gets teased by SPB(with no malicious intent) on stage. The show was a disappointment to Telugu folks but the frustration is being vented at the wrong people. That's all I am trying to say. I was disappointed too, because I had expected a decent division. We don't know why that didn't happen, but it's not because performers refused to... but unless audience wanted them to put on a CD of Telugu songs, I don't see how Raja could have done much changes on the spot. | ||

In which case, the only people to address is the concert organizers. The performers prepared for 2 months. They had an agenda. Why wasn't it reviewed by the organizers and everything balanced out. Is it possible to teach new songs to orchestra in two days before concert? Or at the spot? Raja came to perform. Certain things didn't go well. Host missing. Language issue among audience. They tried to improvise on the spot but failed. His language of FORTE was Tamil so he spoke in that. SPB tried to mix and match in both languages where he knew the song by heart. How is this any of the fault of the performers? There was no insulting on the part of the performers, as far as I can see. Organization and balance of songs should have been better, but then, that is why the committee is there for. | ||

Ideal, Language loss is the same everywhere. English is the main language of communication in all of South India. Tamils and Malayalees will say the same thing as you are about their own language dying out. No language is inferior to another. And if anything, in South India, everyone only feels inferior when their English is weak. All South Indian films show the same. Again, when people trying to be fair bring out other factors, they are told it is irrelevant but external factors seem fine if the argument is against the concert. Unfair. | ||

Verbal diarrhea from Tamil hatred is more evident than people actually being upset with the concert. Looks like keep out all the good that TN gov't and people say about Telugus but talk junk about Sambars in office and cafe. Na valla kaadhu. Someone said boycott events/concerts in future? Is this like boycotting Rajamouli films for green card comment? Music has no language. That is why Carnatic music where 80% of songs are in Telugu is thriving in Tamilnadu and Kerala. People should remember that we have separated from tamilnadu and a lot of Telugu classical music lovers still live in chennai. After separation we did not help by insulting balamuralikrishna. The great musicians like thyagaraja and annamayya composed their songs in Telugu . Telugu is called Italian of the east for a reason. There are many reasons to be proud of being Telugu and I respectfully urge people not to insinuate our language. The one thing we can learn from tamilians is their fervor for their language. The reason why I am saying this is our language getting killed. In a sense people do not know certain words in Telugu. Nadi aavedhana matrame and I do not mean to insult others. | ||

LOL..sambar and dolt are funny words used..never take that to heart.. regarding lungi dances..yes..they also enjoy that but they have the space to accomodate other kind of music and parallel cinema.. can telugu industry accomodate parallel films and mass films? When was the last time a movie with no mass elements but purely runs on a story was declared a hit in telugu. Don't say bommarillu... People behaved as if it was United States of tamilnadu. The first song in Tamil sung by raja's daughter is the worst. It sounded like she was trying to talk in Tamil and there is a music in the background. Also yuvan's rendering of Tamil version if yedhi yedhi is not upto the mark. I liked nani's ( guest who sang during the torturous pre-comedy). | ||

After people patiently waited for 1 hour, they started shouting for telugu songs. mano while making announcements before this incident said that there will be telugu songs later. when he later came and announced in telugu raja sir immediately asked him to translate in tamil. Mano politely said that since it is a telugu song i have announced in telugu. Raja insisted on it and got his arrogance fulfilled. What is the point in announcing a telugu song tamil if not to satisfy tamil ego? did they announce tamil songs in telugu. Common guys if you guys don't have self respect then that is not my problem. Also lot of guys here are saying that there are 10 songs and are including ninnu kori varnam and mate mantramu which were sung in Tamil. I do not have an iota of problem if the song is sung in Tamil but why do we have misrepresent facts? Who are we trying to fool? | ||

Frankly, the best way to have avoided this situation was to have had an MC host in English. Suhasini was to be the host but she couldn't make it. Barring SPB, of the seniors that really ran that show, no one is 100% comfortable in English. I hope there is an MC at the San Francisco concert and that person hosts only in English. There is a story behind that title, 10 days ago we went to a chinese restaurant I got a fortune cookie and my daughter grabbed it ate all of it , but i managed to get the white slip and it says An Opportunity of a Lifetime at that moment I didn't realize what it is, but now read on... I got an IM from my friend asking me whether I would be interested in joining them in helping orgainzers in NJ for Ilayaraja concert. I just can't believe my luck and a BIG Thanks to him and to other friend who knows Mr.Vasu very well that it all came true. We all were suppose to fly on Thursday but one of us have to leave early becoz there is no one to accompany Maestro Ilayaraja from Toronto to NJ. What a LUCKY guy spending time with Maestro sitting right next to him for more than an hour is an opportunity to die for. I was jealous of him. Little did I know what's in store for me . So we reached NJ and we were stay put in the same Hotel where Maestro was staying in addition we were on the same floor too. We were expecting lot of work as the show was on Satday there are loads of things to be sorted out. But to our surprise the friend who accompanied Maestro from Toronto entrusted us the responsibility of taking care of Maestro's needs and took the biggest responsibility of handling other things that lead to the show. Hats off to this cool and level headed person who has this ability to deal with any situation without making a big deal of it. We met maestro for the first time in the morning after breakfast, didn't know what to say, just froze all the while looking at him in awe, managed to take an autograph and a picture, to think back that was the first and last photo with him for the entire stay. The first best moment came when we had to accompany Maestro for lunch. We went to a indian chinese restaurant as Maestro wanted some chinese vegetarian food. Little did I know that I will be sitting right next to GOD of MUSIC. We also shared some dishes . I just couldn't believe my luck. Slowly the hotel started filling with rest of the singers, Met Mano and then my fav S.P.Balasubrahmanyam garu, and Karthik. I was given a mission by the organizers to take care of the singers needs during the concert. That gave me an opportunity to interact with them personally. Which I cherish for rest of my life. All of them very cordial and made sure I was at ease. Especially Mano garu . Satday day morning I called up one of our old DB member to help me out in buying the stuff for the show and also gave him an ALL Access Pass to the show. He is an avid fan of Maestro, I hope he enjoyed the show . Show was about to start and we had everything ready for the singers and were waiting for the moment Maestro to walk in. I got a chance to sing few lines of Edi Edi from Yeto Vellipoyyindi Manasu in front of 10K crowd sitting among them in front of the stage. And I thank my friend from the bottom of my heart for this grand opportunity. That was something special, but even more special was singer Karthik who was at the back stage started enquiring about who is singing the song. I met him backstage and he said he loved my voice. He said I should try my hand in music. Karthik is one hell of a guy, no egos. He sets stage on fire whenever he steps on it. And he was kind enough to share some tips with me on singing. Backstage interacted with all the singers again, spoke with Chitra garu, again one of the most beautiful voices out there and she is such a wonderful person in and out. She just smiled at everyone who came to take a picture with her. Never disappointed anyone. Show went on smoothly without any hiccups, yes for sure there were some disappointment from the crowd for lesser number of telugu songs, but overall it was a grand success. And Maestro was very happy with how the show progressed. After the show We were ready for a long night of wrapping up the things at the auditorium. But to my surprise my friend gave me the shock of my life. He said drop everything and accompany with Maestro to the hotel in his LIMO. I was like R U SURE, he said yes, it will take a bit more time to finish things up here. So you go ahead and make him comfortable. I just grabbed all of the stuff that I have to and then rushed with Maestro along with local organizer. We both sat for close to 45 mins in the LIMO. This time I am literally froze for the whole journey. Manage to utter few words with him, told him how much I loved his music and spoke about all those BG score moments that I cherish. We went to straight to his room, made sure that he had his dinner. Came back to our room in TRANCE. I just can't thank my stars. I must have done something good in my past life to be in such a close proximity with all the legends in the concert. Thanks so much for both of my very good friends who made this happen for me. You guys know who you are. I know I can't thank you enough guys. But still without you guys it would be impossible for me to even imagine this. And also a BIG thanks to iDream Media for taking care of all of us so well.
