Flake himself called for the FBI to wrap up its investigation in a week or less, while investigating just the accusations. But Democrats have since cried foul over those limits – saying the FBI should be not be restricted in time or subject.
“No artificial limits as to time or scope should be imposed on this investigation," an attorney for Kavanaugh accuser Christine Ford, Debra S. Katz, said in a Friday statement.
Left-leaning journalists also have complained that the investigation won’t focus enough on Kavanaugh’s drinking habits in high school and college.
“It’s not just that they aren’t allowed to investigate the third accuser’s claims,” NBC’s Ken Dilanian tweeted. “They also won’t look into his drinking at Yale or pull Mark Judge’s employment records or take other basic investigative steps, we are told.”
But now, many Democrats are arguing that the probe is not enough, prompting accusations from Republicans that they're already moving the goalposts.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders wrote in a weekend letter that the FBI shouldn’t just probe the accusations – but should also conduct an investigation into whether Kavanaugh was honest during his hearing.
"A fundamental question the FBI can help answer is whether Judge Kavanaugh has been truthful with the committee,” Sanders said. “This goes to the very heart of whether he should be confirmed to the court.”

Dr Ford was clear in her objective, she trusted the congresswomen, the senator from the state to take her case up to the right authority and get the justice she needed. Everybody failed her and for that we need to hate the democrats.
I would say being partisan is endemic to both the parties and its going to be that way now whether we like this or not. I would also like the FBI to make a investigation but that will not come to that as the committee probably will not ask for it, he was on record during this same testimony that he is game for anything that will clear him and that includes FBI investigation, Local police investigation whatever to clear him. Its not his call and democrats keep asking him to do that one after the other.

He has done a 360 deg ,was known as Jr McCain. He supports Trump now. But there is truth in what he said, All of this that we are seeing now could have been done behind the scenes and if anything was found Brett would have faced the law as anybody does. However they chose to suppress it, released the information to the media put everything out and try to influence the committee instead of taking it in to confidence. The way it has been done smirks of the worst political opportunism. As for Dr Ford she has been very likeable but her testimony is not believable (to me atleast).
1. She does not remember how she got there
2. She remembers Brett and Mark Judge
3. She remembers drinking 1 beer
4. She remembers other people who can vouch for her story - nobody supports her
5. She does not remember how she got to her home from there.
6. she does remember it was Brett and only Brett who did it.
The attorney's of Dr Ford did a dis-service to her as they did not tell her that the senate committee was willing to meet her anywhere she wanted and conduct this confidentially, she herself admitted during the questioning.
On the other hand Kav's defense was not up to the mark of some people's expectation because he had not exhibited poise and calm under questioning. The issue is he is being accused of something that he believes he has not done and his entire life's work has been destroyed by unsubstantiated, uncorroborated evidence without evidence. Yes if he had a drinking problem he should have owned it up and be a man about it. But hey no man who drinks will ever admit that they are unable to control themselves when they drink. A person who chronicles his entire life and has evidence to support it vs a person who has no evidence to support and has lot of inconsistencies in her testimony I would vote for the former.
who did it? Congresswomen from CA, Diane F or her staff or the attorney's who leaked the letter to the media?

The prosecutor, Rachel Mitchell, spoke at an overnight meeting where all 51 Republican senators were present, two people briefed on the session said.
“Mitchell spelled it out and was clear with senators that she could not take this anywhere near a courtroom,” one source told Fox News. She told them she would not charge the Supreme Court nominee and reportedly said she wouldn't even seek a search warrant.
Mitchell’s opinion could sway fence-sitting senators ahead of a critical Senate Judiciary Committee vote set for Friday morning.
It is not necessary for Kavanaugh to secure majority approval of the committee in order to advance to the full Senate, but a favorable recommendation could bode well for his imperiled nomination -- and vice-versa.

My Honest views on the Hearings yesterday...
1. Dr. Ford seemed honest when she testified, she came across as polite and genuine where as Kav look agitated (Understandably so) but when talked about Calendar he seemed genuine except when questioned about Drinking. People could sense the he was lying when talked about Drinking.
2. Dr. Ford took all the questions from prosecutor very well and she seemed composed and when she couldn't recollect she either stated the same and took help of her counsellors... where as Kav was composed when GOP senators asked questions where he was smiling and replying politely...where as when Dems asked questions his demeanour was totally different, he looked like he was pissed out at dr feinstein. Sen. Klobuchar mentioned about her father's alcoholism and how her father still goes to AA at the age of 90 but Kav chose to pick a fight with her ever though she was very very polite to her..that was extremely bad on his part but he apologised which was good.
3. Dems senators asked questions to both Dr. Ford and Kav where as GOP senators deferred their time to Prosecutor when Dr. Ford testified and chose to praise Kav when he testified...Shame on you guys...
Bottomline, as Sen. Flake put it nothing has changed even after 9 hours and more than likely Kav would be voted in (my gut feeling)...but overwhelmingly people want FBI investigation...if Kav is innocent he should demand FBI investigation and get it done with else even if he is nominated his position would be tainted...

If you choose to believe the narrative that he is a bad drunk then this should be carried in to his adult life as well. Right now all of his clerical staff is 100% women, should have somebody talk about that, all his friends vouch for him. None of witnesses including her best friend is ready to stand by her testimony that Kav did something like that and yet he is lying through his teeth and faking it. I see that you did not like his choir boy image he tried to paint and I can agree with that, he may have shot himself in foot with that but he certainly did put forward his position forcefully that he is innocent. The presumption of guilty without any charge cannot be applied here not to anybody be man or woman. The biggest guilty party in this whole episode is the democratic committee member(s) who were aware of this, advised her to seek counsel and yet did not inform the committee about such a thing. If they did a proper FBI investigation could have happened but they chose to withold it and break it when it seemed his nomination would be inevitable in the hope that the hue and cry raised will delay the voting. Susan and Lisa were doubtful even when there were no allegations, so it probably rests on the red-state democrats or by a long shot on either susan or lisa turning around and then Pence stepping in to push it through.
Anand_n: Charade is a charade no matter who is doing it. I called it dramatics because earlier in this thread(archived) somebody said "if she cries this is over,kav is done" and my comment was related to that in that context. It does not mean in anyway somebody who is emotional and cries is faking it. For us these are pop-corn moments but for him its a life's work gone to dust in 2 weeks without any credible proof, same as well as Dr Ford - as Lindsey and others said Democrats ruined the whole thing by leaking her name to try and block his nomination in the wrong way

Fighting Kavanaugh over sexual allegation ended up a mistake. Should have carried on with the 'principle ' battle. Atleast they would have lost gracefully!!
