Ok so out of the 10 incidents so far of similar nature this is the first one where just regular shotgun/revolver were involved. If we are asking for a gun ban totally because of this, it will never happen. We can rally against assault rifles and build a movement and might get support but it will never happen for other types of guns whether we like it or not. Sister dont get me wrong, taking away assault rifles is the first thing I want but please tell me one thing - Dems are in power in few states kada why is there a ban not in effect in those states? It is easy to politicize or blame others. NRA is powerful but so are people, you elected the reps to the legislatures, why are people not questioning the reps and making their life miserable for not pushing the agenda of banning assault rifles? Is it a fringe effort only? Knee jerk reactions tend to die down as it happened in previous efforts. We need a sustained campaign to get this agenda pushed and approved by law makers, NRA is just a private organization. Banning assault rifles should be the only agenda of the effort. If you keep clubbing background checks in to the equation then we are sure it will never pass.
