Terrible ending....how can you call it classic. In the original ending, Gabbar was actually killed by Thakur, but the censor board in the emergency era felt that it was too violent and might incite people, called the producers and made the climax to be changed. They had to shoot the whole thing again. The new ending feels so silly. | ||

Visiting DB after long time, and it is nice to see an interesting topic  My picks : Telugu : 1. Sagara Sangamam - No way you can end this movie on a positive note. Character Balu must pass on his legacy and die. I do not consider this as a tragic end like Devdas or Marocharithra, but a very NOBLE & ASTHETIC ending of a struggling artist. The scene at the temple steps where Kamal Hassan comes to know that Jayapradha is widow...the climax starts...Already top notch acting tho sagi poia movie ni, Kamal takes it to the next level. No actor is born yet to be compared on par with him. Hats Off to K. Vishwanadh for executing such a master piece. 2. Kodhamasimham : The genre of this movie is ADVENTURE. What a fantastic way of building up the climax...Villans like Mohan Babu, Kannada Prabhakar, Pran chasing on horses for Khonioor & Peacock throne was always a treat to watch on big screen (as a kid). No comparisons with the original cow boy Clint Eastwood or actual Telugu cow boy Krishna...but I feel Chiru's style, mannerisms, his agility at that age in 1990 along with his perfect horse riding gives me goose bumps even now. Raj Koti background and 6 track sound in Devi 70 mm haunts me till date 3. Kushi : Inspite of being a love story, entire movie lo both hero & heroine do not say the magic words I LOVE YOU because of their EGO. Last 10 mins lo once their ego is dominated with their unconditional love, climax reaches to the peaks in the station. The tension and build up towards the end of the story is on lines with Nirnayam, Premalekha and Hrudyam (not necessarily the same in content but in picturuzation). 4. Aa Naluguru : Emotional at its best. An actor needs just 5 mins to change the whole perception to a character. KOTA made me cry in the theatre the moment he speaks for Rajendera Prasad at the grave yard. Take a bow sir. That is the power of a theater artist. Last but not least are the court room dramas like Abhilasha, Surigadu and many more. Tamil : Yes, they enjoy the sad endings, as the pain once you come out of the theatre is more lasting than the joy. Vikram's SETHU was one such movie which disturbed me for almost a week after seeing the movie. Hindi : Triangle Love Stories always lead to a great climax provided you have great actors to justify. Sangam in 1960 (Raj Kapoor, Rajender Kumar & Vijyanthimala) and Mukadhar Ka Sikandher 1979 (Amitabh, Vinod Khanna & Rakee) are few such I could recollect. Baazigar and Mr. India also have great climaxes in terms of emotional revenge saga & nail biting climax respectively. English : SPeed : Right from the moment we come to know that there is bomb in the bus, climax starts from 1st half itself. Great tension maintained thru out. Titanic : Immediately after interval, the ship hits the ice burg, so technically this is the longest climax in the movie history. James Cameroon vision is na bhooto na bhvishyathu. He makes all the audience feel as if we are onboarded to Titanic. But overall as an actor Kamal Hassan had great climaxes : Vasantha Kokila (Sadma) : : Entire movie was Sridevi's performance. Everyone were damn sure that she will win the state award in Tamil Nadu. Last 10 mins leaves a lump in our throat that judges went ahead and gave Kamal Hassan the best actor award. As I said it is only 5 to 10 mins that an actor needs to prove his caliber. Trust me we forget Sridevi and it is Kamal Hassan which haunts you after you come out of the theatre. On the same lines, he has Marocharithar, Naykan, Indian (Bharteeyudu), Kshtriya Purudu and many more. Hope you enjoyed my list...These are few I could think off as I type... | ||

Remember seeing it on TV long time back. This is a revolutionary movie for that time I think. I like how he defends the kids who killed his son and brings up how parents , society, movies, novels etc are responsible for influencing kids to bad direction.... It stuck in my memory just like that... Coming back to topic Siva ending was letdown but I don't know what else he could have done. Prasthanam has a great ending as well | ||

When hero goes out to get some food and heroine is gangraped by some lorry drivers and will be in almost comatose state by the time hero comes back.... Heroine father with his men come and will be banging doors to enter house (not knowing that she is raped and is dead). Most telugu movies suffer from bad second half's, more attention is given to the interval bang and movies just collapse post that. However climaxes are the most important part of the movie, the feel of the audience when they come out is very important. Manchi climax tho mugisina Telugu movies list pettandi...naa varuku: - Shiva, largely because of the melancholic ending, just because Bhavani is killed does not mean that Shiva ends up happy, he is still sad about the turn of events and what his life has become - Sithara - Swayamvaram (Dasari kummesadu ending) - Sagara Sangamam - Aithe - Pokiri - Guppedu Manasu - Mithunam - Mayuri, brave feminist ending - 16 yella vayasu (i liked the tamil ending though) I might be forgetting loads of others...do add to the list |
