The main reason is that our heroes have a need to indicate their undying vigor and virility through fresh heroines leading to a constant churn in actresses. Most heroes don't act with a heroine more than 1-2 times. It is beneath them. To be a "man" and be with the same woman in every other movie again is blow our heroes macho ego. So the constant flux in heroines, nobody has a life beyond 5 years in Telugu.

Because of our need for hero elevation, the directors want to use other language heroines indicating that even a North Indian girl can fall our hero again elevating the hero's image. If you have, say, someone like Jayaprada nowadays you can't build the hero's image. But if you have a rat faced girl like Tamanna or Kajal you can blow up the character just because they are North Indians. This shows a deep lack of self-respect and inferiority. Same is the case with villains. Kicking a north Indian butt appears to give some balm to our south Indian egos."
