Manaki personal ga positive, for other reasons... I do believe that BJP will also win the next elections in 2024 also. Nationalist sentiments take an entire generation to weed out. Just like Trump might also win next year. That apart for all the Knickers out there who are gloating at the victory, Indira Gandhi ruled for 17 years..doesn't matter crap. Winning elections does not equate to good governance. If any it is an entire generation lost. The same vote bank that used to bank IG/ Congress during their heydays - the Brahmin/ Thakur/ Baniya/ Reddy/ Gowda upper caste plus a smattering of BC/ SC etc who were thrown some freebies or rhetorics of Garibi Hatao. The latter has now been replaced by nationalist/ religious rhetoric. Anthe theda. The economy is in deep trouble. So we have to keep the fire burning among the jobless. The challenge of the BJP will be this - after the war has been won, how to keep the emotions fully charged to divert attention away from the economic mess we are in. That's what scares me. Nationalist rhetoric might not worry a US or England too much - they are among the richest countries in the world. But all said and done we are a third world country - we need investments/ technology/ knowledge from abroad. To get an Ambani an entry into ecommerce, the rules were amended to screw Amazon and Flipkart. In return, US has imposed tariffs on our products. By 2020, Bangladesh will equal India in per capita income...as they have been growing a great pace for the past few years. We have squandered the last few years. And in rapidly changing demographic scenario, this can be disastrous. China consistently grew at close to 10% for 15-20 years to become a middle income country. India, i suspect, can fall into what economists call the "low income trap". | ||
