Fruits and veggies comes with carbs. So when you are eating based on your carbs low and high days , you should calculate carbs etc of that particular fruit and vegi.

Mari sweet unna mango tinnavu anuko. it is high in carbs. Almost 30grams. So i eat mango on high carb day.

never avoid fruits and veggies. They are important item in your diet. But you should take it based on your carb plan.

I am 5.9 and weigh around 157 pounds. I want to come down to 145 pounds and build muscles. So, what is the best bet? Reduce food quantity with little work out like cardio and weights 3 times a week until i reach my goal or Normal food quantity with more work outs daily.

Let us go little details into Daily menu. I put my own menu for vegi days and non veg days. I have two vegi days and 5 nonveg days in my week.

First i would explain what food i consider for my intake. To get maximum protein out of my meal i include food which is high in protein.

1) Chicken: Chicken is high in protein. Especially chick breast has lots of protein. Instead of eating legs, thighs and wings. Go for only breast. I get only breast and make curry. Some time it becomes little harder when you are preparing total dish for family. I get chicken breast pocket from Bjs with 20 pieces. I marinate them in curd and some spices. I grill them as i need. You can get 30 grams of protein in one breast. It is great food. I use toaster OVEN to cook this marinated chicken.

2) Fish: Fish is really good source of protein. I prefer Salmon fish which is wild caught. It also gives around 30 grams of protein. Cooking is pretty easy. Put 2 tea spoon of lemon juice on the salmon fillet and sprinkle salt and pepper on it. Just cook it for 10 minutes in Oven. You are all set. You can either use OVEN or toaster OVEn. Some times i make Salmon fish pulusu when it is for family. Taste will be nothing less than normal fish pulusu.

3) Goat meat: goat meet also high in protein. I eat goat meat once a week. Specially on high work out day. I love goat meat as i recover too fast when i eat goat meat. As study suggest that red meat for daily consumption is not good, i avoid it for daily meal.

5) Black beans - Lentils(kandi pappu): they are also really good source of protein. But they are high in carbs. Put pappu, sambar would be nice fit for protein sources. Just eat them as they are high in carbs. You can avoid other junk food and eat pappu with brown rice nicely.

6) Dairy: Milk, cottage cheese, greek yogurt: All are good source of protein and no carbs. Avg in fat if you are taking fat free milk or yogurt. For vegetarian people diary is the big source of protein. All protein powders are nothing but refined milk powders. So drink fat free milk now and then to keep your protein intake.

7) Almonds: These are good source of protein .Have hand full of almonds in your pocket. Eat them now and then. It would help you running and never make you feel hungry.

8am Break fast: 4 bread slices with Almond butter.
2 cups of fat free milk with one scoop of protein powder.
Some time it include one egg white omelet.

11am lunch: 1 cup brown rice with Pappu on vegi day. Chicken on nonveg day
1cup of Greek yogurt

1pm: Almonds + 1kum fat free milk

3pm: One protein bar with 30g protein

5pm: 1 salmon fillet+ 1 cup fat free milk(some time 1 cup tea made with fat free milk)

8pm: Dinner with roti/oats/brown rice/bread/oatpulka with Chicken or Soya bean keema. Some time i eat spinach curry with brown rice.
1cup greek yougurt

10pm: 1 cup cottage cheese.

Not sure about menu, but there is a plant based protein called Vega. i use it, it's actually good.

Just make sure there are no additives.

Everyone need 2000 calories per day to keep your daily routine. So you eat 2000 calories to keep your weight stable. If you eat more than 2000 calories then you increase wait. You eat less you lose weight. It is as simple as that. But how you divide that 2000 calories to really target your fat, especially your belly fat.




2000 calories is not standard for every person. It depends on each person height, weight and physical activity.

You should try Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calculator. It will tell you how many calories you need to consume a day if you are following sedentary life style.

Once you get the calorie count form BMR, then you should use "Harris Benedict Formula"

To determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

I have prepared this based on my own experience. It is all natural and you need not to take any specific drinks. Unless you are following Muscle building part of this plan you need not to have Protein powder. That part I will explain in detail in later discussion of this thread.

Note: Before continuing from here. Make sure that you do not have any health issues. It is preferred to have physical check up with doctor and discuss with doctor about your work out and diet plan. I go for physical check every year and I did discuss about my carbs intake and protein intake with doctor. I am assuming that you have enough knowledge of your health and you take necessary steps before starting this plan. Any issues you face during this, you should stop it right away and talk to your doctor. This plan is just for knowledge.

Smoker and drinkers would need to think twice as their drinking and smoking habits would effect a lot in your diet and workout. Smoker would have really hard time in maintaining breathing which is most important in Cardio and Muscle building exercises. Alcohol might dehydrate you and it would affect your cardio and other exercises.

I have divided this total plan in 4 parts and they are as follows
1) Diet
2) Cardio
3) Building Muscle
4) Abs exercises

Reducing belly can be achieved only through reducing your body fat%. You would start seeing the result once you reduce your body fat under 20%. 15% would give you almost flat belly. Below 10% would be like nearing to six pack. You can calculate your body fat% by online calculator. You can also check you fat by just pinching at your arm. Please follow online tutorials to get your fat%.
With the Diet and Cardio you can reduce your belly fat and maintain good weight but as soon as you leave your diet plan you would gain your weight back. It would be really fast. You may take 3 months to reduce 10 pounds and it would just take 1 month to get weight back once you leave the diet plan. This happens with all people. I am sure that no one can maintain same diet plan for long and you may get breaks because of trip, family events etc. So part 3(building Muscle) is going to help you to build your metabolism and increase your no of calories you burn every day. Still eating healthy should be maintained to keep your fat % low. Abs exercises would help you to build core and abs muscle but you may not see them until you reduce your belly fat. So first 3 parts would help you to see the part 4 results.

Diet Part1:

Everyone need 2000 calories per day to keep your daily routine. So you eat 2000 calories to keep your weight stable. If you eat more than 2000 calories then you increase wait. You eat less you lose weight. It is as simple as that. But how you divide that 2000 calories to really target your fat, especially your belly fat.
I take around 2000 calories per day and I divide them between carbs, protein and fat. Based on my weight I need 200grams of protein. So 1g protein is equal to 4calories. So I eat 800 calories of protein. Remaining I eat for Carbs and Fat. I have remaining 1200 calories. So it is around 800 calories of carbs and 400calories of fat. 1g carb is also 4 calories. So you need to limit your carbs to 400g. Everything you eat now it counts. Before you eat anything you need to read nutrition facts table and make note of it. I further divide my days into low carbs days and high carbs days. On low carbs days I eat only 1800calores and on high carbs days I eat 2200 calories.

Low carb day:
1800 calories/day
800 calories from protein
600 from carbs
400 from fat
High carb day:
800 calories from protein
800 from carbs
400 from fat
Protein: Most of the food including rice has Protein. Chicken, milk, soya, eggs, fish, meat, beans are high in protein. Find the protein and calculate your daily intake.
Carbs: You need to eat hard carbs and avoid refined carbs. Soft carbs get digested easily and body get insulin hike very fast after eating soft carbs like rice. The body converts insulin into fat and store in belly. If you eat high refined soft carbs like rice then body takes all carbs and coverts into insulin and give it to the body. Body uses required amount at that point and store remaining as fat. The story is different if you eat hard carb. Hard carb take long time to digest and body gets insulin slowly as it required. The chances of converting hard carb into fat is very less. Sugar is another bad carb which would give lots of fat to the body. Avoiding soft drinks, cakes is like avoiding sugar. Avoid anything which has sugar in it. Sugar is another carb in Nutrition table. 25grams sugar is 25 grams carbs.
I eat Brown rice, whole wheat bread and oats. I avoid white rice as much as possible. Also I avoid all white food to keep my refined carbs low. This way you are stopping your body to get any more fat into the fat stores.
Fat: Most of the food has Fat. When you read nutrition fact table on the food, it gives you the calories from the fat. Yes, you need to keep eye on to keep your fat consumption in limits based on above daily fat calories. Cooking oil for Indian food might add fat into your body. You cannot avoid fat totally as fat is required item for your body to function. Brain needs fat, your joints need fat. So eat fat based on your daily limit. I follow below plan to keep my fat consumption low.
1) Consume only Fat free milk.
2) Use very less oil in cooking. 1 Tea spoon for person in family while cooking.
3) Boil vegies instead of frying.
4) Avoid Chees, pizza, whole milk products etc.

Especially for Indians it is pretty easy to keep FAT in limits as we do not take Pizza, cheese etc. as our daily food.
You can make following changes to your daily routine to maintain diet plan.

1) Switch to brown rice.
2) Switch to fat free milk.
3) Avoid all high sugar drinks like coke, coffee with cream and sugar, cakes etc. Stick to water
4) Reduce oil in cooking.
5) No more pizzas, pasta, cheese etc..
Above changes simple changes make your eating habits healthy. Keep your low carb days and high carb day’s table and eat according to that. That is all on diet.

if you are around 30 your see result.. around 35.. littler slower.. 40.. much slower.

but if you are around 35 this is the time. if you delay more it is going to be tough to reduce belly fat.. so later cheyyakunda start cheyyandi

Please update this thread with whoever is intrested.

If possible By sunday night please post your daily calories count and your bad fat %.

If you do not know calories count, Down load calories calculator in your phone and calculate for tomorrow and sundy and take avg and post total no of calories per day.

Also calculate you Fat %. This would really help how much fat your need to reduce to see flat belly..
