Pollution and Infrastructure are part and parcel of your life. You cant separate them out. If only parameters of being close to your closer ones outweigh others you can move.
Parameters are same for every one, they cannot change is my point. How you weigh them may differ. But when you want to talk in general, you have to take in general how they are counted.

I cannot comment on healthcare in US.

But later vallu cheppindi use chesaaka adi taggipoyyindi. I cant go to doctore for cold, fever etc.., here, but people here are more healthier than India which is more important for me. Whats that point, tell me the reasons. There are quality of life indices, which are facts which you can check. You are perhaps verey nationalistic not to have a rational view. If you come and tell me in relative terms US is not great compared to a Scandinavian country I would have agreed. Not with India, its just a joke.

Ipad:for Some it is not a quality of life to have comfortable material life. Sitting here U think life sucks there. But same is the feeling people living back in India about us. No one thinks we are special and having a best quality life.
Why are you worried about what some one thinks about your life??
As far as I am concerned, I am having a solid life here. If I go to India I will struggle and I have given the clear reasons.
Quality of life is universal not personal.
Chosing a good quality of life is personal not universal.
You tell me reasons why you should go to India? except that you will be close to parents and relatives? Even when I am in Pune I visited Kadapa once in 6-12 months. I can get my parents stay here for 3 months every year. I cannot outweigh having relatives with other benefits I get here.

Kadapafan:Its not my perception, I am talking about quality of life, by that I mean what you get for what you spend. It is a fact and not perception. If quality of life in India is better then India can never be called a poor country.
U are comparing 30 crs with 120 crs. comparing a developed economy with developing. Quality of the life , the definitions blur after u cross a point.
What u think as a fact may not be true for others. we all know what is US and INDIA. U can qualify a country in ur own ways , which can become your facts not "facts".
for Some it is not a quality of life to have comfortable material life. Sitting here U think life sucks there. But same is the feeling people living back in India about us. No one thinks we are special and having a best quality life. |

Pros of moving to India:
1. Be close to Parents and Relatives
Cons of moving to India:
1. Time waste in travel in cities, heavy pollution
2. Congested places to live
3. Heavy crowd every where for every thing
4. Heavy corruption means every month you are officially paying taxes to Lords and Kings who use it for their personal reasons than spending back
5. Poor infrastructure
6. Heavy cost for health care, restaurents etc..,
7. High inflation, meaning high prices for everything
etc etc..,
Unanswered questions which led to above observations:
1. Today when I travel, in 90-95% of the cases, I would spend exactly 50 mins to reach airport, which is 56kms. This is using Public transportation and this will happen any time be it day or night. Can I know for instance how long it will take to go to Bangalore airport from Majestic, which is about 40 kms? can it be same every time? Last 3 times I went to Bangalore every time it took different time.
2. Knowing that some body earned almost 10-15% of AP Budget in 5 years, why the hell you would like to be there, if people there selects the same MoFos every time? Is it my culture to be with them?
3. Costs go up every time I go there, no predictability on what you can save or what you can spend a month

Kadapafan:I live 20 mins from centre of Stockholm and Its as green as a village with 200m distance from a lake. I never felt I was robbed off with prices. I can see where my tax is going and I get a lot of benefits for what I am paying for. Life is predictable here.

Quality of life - West is mighty mighty better than India.
I live 20 mins from centre of Stockholm and Its as green as a village with 200m distance from a lake. I never felt I was robbed off with prices. I can see where my tax is going and I get a lot of benefits for what I am paying for. Life is predictable here.

It depends on individual. of-late the life has become very routine back here. Not much money can be saved. India trips, Medical will wash savings significantly
India , once any one is there for 4-6 months we get used to the dynamic situations. Things are not def going in anticipated way. But def not bad as pictured in media and NRI forums.
Life is more color-ful and spicy , because we are from that land.
it is all individual choice, one should not regret later.

If you ask me though, I wouldnt suggest going back to India, it will be very hard for Kids and Adults as well...Bangalore ki elthe prepare to spend 2-3 hours in traffic every day atleast.

Alright folks - its time to say goodbye to US; me going back to India for good after 9 years in US.
Came for masters; worked 7 years and getting back home with wife and 2 year old daughter.
Reasons for moving:
- me from non IT background; saw great opportunities for both me and wife back home. ikkada job picha routine and bore ayyindi naaku. Also the field I am in here cannot grow after a certain level. We have some entrepreneur dreams; so I think India is the place to be now
- wife completing her PhD here in US; wants to work in univs and professor. India lo US PhD ki baagane scene undi as of now
- family point of view I was feeling I was missing a lot of things. was very very uncomfortable with that
- am young (30) can take a chance now; if not now never ani naa feeling. If India thing does not work; we always can come back to US
- Back home I want to do some good to the country/society in my own small way
- Financial point of view; full-time job in non-IT sector lo antha money ledu. I mean US v/s India; there is money in India. Also ikkada with wife,kid saving are very small for me. even if we save some money; 1 India trip and its all over.
- moving to B'lore as of now
Challenges:
- I cancelled my GC and that was the first step in that direction. RIGHT STEP ani naa feeling.
- Financially did not save much here; invested all my money on my wife's PhD; so koncham tension undi
- Also India lo except a small flat did not buy anything - I am little worried about that
Suggestions:
- Moving back to India is not easy as people think. I was also in the same boat. India move emi undi...but its challenging.
- Please plan carefully and meticulously
- if you have GC and own a house its going to be even more tougher to move to India.
I must appreciate our DB a lot. I got lot of information from many threads on this. I thoroughly enjoyed our DB and the knowledge I got was terrific. When i talk to my folks in India they are shocked with my knowledge on many currecnt affairs; vaalaki mana DB gurinchi thelvadu kada .. HA H AH AHA LOL
ALso mana DB lo numbers/figures on costs in India are very exaggerated ani naa guess. will update more on this once I get settled down in India.
I hired movers to ship all my stuff to India.
great knowing many folks thru DB.. i have been following DB in a silent way from 7 years..... due to DB my work producitivity/quality has been affected and also quality family time. regrets ??? no clue..
