Dear Friends, I hope you all in good health and had wonderful Christmas/New Year celebrations. I had a Double Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplant, because we were unable to find a living stem cell donor. Transplant was great success after so many health complications in the hospital. We went to Seattle, WA in June, 2011 for my Transplant treatment and we came back home in November, 2011. I am in recovery process, another 12 to 18 months for complete recovery. Our hearty thanks to the two mothers, who saved their baby's Cord Bloods. If they didn't save the Cord Bloods, I am not here today. After so many pre transplant medical tests, my Transplant happened on August 5th, 2011. Total two Cord Blood units infused. First unit is AB+ blood group (This is female cord blood), Second unit A+ (This is male cord blood). The female cord blood stem cells grafted/worked well and now my blood group changed to AB+. I have made very nice new friends in Seattle. Our special thanks to Seattle friends for great help/support during our stay in Seattle. I have to follow many restrictions for another 12 months, avoid sick people, no parties, don't go to cinema halls, no work environment, no fast food restaurants, only cooked food, don't expose to sun etc. All day I am staying inside the home except doctor visits and blood tests. In day time, I watch a movie, do exercises, making scrap books for my kids, converting kids video tapes in to DVDs and add tittles, music, cooking, learning new recipes, 2 hours sleep in the afternoon. I am really enjoying every moment of my life. You always welcome to visit us, we will be very happy, please make sure that you don't have any infections, cold, cough etc. Once again our hearty thanks to everyone for your support/help/wishes/prayers. Please wish me for speedy recovery. My Sincere Request/Advise: A word of advice for all future parents is to take advantage of cord blood banking. It is the best thing we can do as a preventive measure. If you want to save your new born baby cord blood in a private cord blood bank you need to pay money. But if you save cord blood with NMDP (National Marrow Donor Program) for public use it is absolutely FREE!
