Always Number may not be only the yard stick. There are MANY other (may be very personal) factors of applicant would play the role. Few things like Immigration, spouse working location, flexibility, company name/fame, nature/tech of the work/kids education/relative is already working and said good things about the job/company and a lot. Typically, if Comp/IT is not their business main revenue source, these jobs are fixed price cost. But if its the main stream revenue source(Prod Dev, Opensource, Just code makes $$ for them directly), the offer is going to be broad. In bay area, Open source based expertise in product companies, if you have hand over the logic, architecture, design and reasoning, you can DEMAND and max it out as a competition. I have tried this two years back, worked good(not VERY WELL since I put my bar real high and greedy). But I know it works. Attended and snagged few FTE offers(While I am not REALLY interested in FTE), spun those offers across one other to have each of them to max out and found that I got the best package that they can and option to choose which company I like. But none of the offers really pulled what I can make as non-FTE (BTW, I dont have immi issues, got wings) | ||
