I closely followed Mccain over two campaigns . The first in 2000. He won NH, strong contender to win SC. That would have put an end to George bush campaign. He was going great guns as a moderate republican poised to replace bill Clinton. Enter Karl rove!! The smear about him fathering an llegitimate black child was every where. It was pretty sad, how people cling to such rumors ..that was end of that campaign.. Second is 2008. He was not favorite but he managed to get republican nomination. He wanted to chose joe Lieberman as his VP candidate . Conservative block threatened to boycott. That was about time banon started making presence. Palin was his low moment...there were so many gaffes ..his dry humor of beach boys song in tune of 'bomb bomb Iran ' when asked about iran( that put him in lot of trouble with media).. yet, I always thought he would provide stable leadership than Obama.. Rip. Great for his military service not so much politically. His betrayal on Obamacare repeal while Electing based on promise of repeal (he voted twice during obama presidency) and his pettiness with fights on trump diminished him.
