I dont think this is true Insurance follows the vehicle(in general) not owner(very specific cases only). Rental car is a clause. Since you had accident in your friends car, your friends liability insurance will cover ( Unless he claims you drove without his permission. Permissive use is a very common in current day driving insurance). If the damage is too big beyond his liability levels, your insurance as supplemental coverage (may) step in depending on the kind of coverage you have. | ||

If they are not members of your household, only visiting, we cannot add them to your policy. If you give them permission to drive your auto, they will be covered under permissive use.
