For those who are comparing Kohli vs Sachin

AA countries bowlers gattiga kopam tho choosthene tadipeskunevaru manollu 90s lo. Attantidi maa vodu pichi kukkanu kottinattu kottevadu. Kohli is a great batsman of course. Don't compare him with Sachin. Sachin mundu bacha Kohli.

Mental_sachinodu:

We are all professionals here. We try to give our best, for the things we think that matter to us.

Watching your game, reminds me why exactly I spent my childhood admiring the sport, spending countless hours/days/nights. It reminds me that the challenge is not the sport, not the opposition, but was and is always my self.

Its the same even today, getting immersed in the work we do, the challenges we face trying things we never tried, the decisions we make we are never sure of, changing ourselves to suit the needs of the surroundings, where-ever we are, what ever we are, whether its professional life or personal life.

Not losing the resolve to get the best out of us, not losing the resolve to make our actions suit the needs of the challenge, is what matters. I just feel the folks who are watching these games, should not merely be looking at this from the perspective of a game and updating scorecards, checking on the records that have broken... that would be a missed oppurtunity of witnessing the real Kohli.

Everynow and then a game is blessed with a maverick, every now and then a game is blessed with a rolemodel who grinds it out no matter what the situation is, every now and then a game is blessed with an eternal student, every now and then a game is blessed with a great leader - not sure what you are yet - but you are definitely an inspiring performer.

excellent, inspiring post bro!!

Kohli is a good batsman and but no where near to the class of Root/Williamson in present generation at least w.r.t tests...

Inka Tendulkar lu Dravid lu Sehwag lu Laxman lu tho compare cheyatam waste.. They are better than him in tests until now....

Time will tell if he can really mark such stature in tests as well..

Right now Kohli is better player than all of them in ODIs.. In ODIs he played many valuable knocks..

Idhoka fashion....

Tendu gurinchi maatladithey he nvr faced the WI quartet...Aussie, Pak and NZ attacks of the 70s & 80s antaaru....

Now with Kohli...he didn't face Swing Twins frm Pak, Aussie and WI bowlers antaaru....

Jst to remind you...Kohli faced Dale Steven, Morkel and Rabada frm SA....James Anderson frm Eng....Peak Mitchell Johnson and Mitch Starc, Peak Lasith Makings frm SL....

All these bowlers merit All Time Great status frm their respective countries....

He now has some of the greatest innings ever in all these countries incl. Aus...SA...NZ and now England....

The way he obliterated his only black mark against England in the 1st Test itself is stuff of legends....

Kohli wud have done as well as SRT in 90s too simply for his ruthlessness and sheer bloody determination....

No one can stop Kohli except himself...

Literally Kohli is now in the position of Sachin in 90s.... especially in away tests.

It's time he had his own Dravid, Ganguly, Sehwag and Laxman to stand up for him.

Tim Wigmore, Edgbaston

3 August 2018 • 9:07pm

It was an innings for the ages, a century that defied a formidable, relentless pace attack on a spicy pitch. And it stood out like a thoroughbred horse alongside greyhounds, with no other team-mate even managing a half-century in either innings. But it came in defeat.

That is a description of Virat Kohli’s fine 153 at Centurion in January. Yet, by the end of this match, it could equally well serve as an accurate description of his 149 at Edgbaston.

This is India’s fourth away Test in 2018, after three fiercely contested matches in South Africa. While Kohli has adorned these games with those two resplendent centuries, his team-mates have only one half-century – Hardik Pandya’s audacious 93 in Cape Town, the very first Test of the sequence – between them. Across these matches, Kohli has an absurd 29 per cent of India’s total runs.

In the 1930s, Ron Headley, the great West Indian batsman, came to be known as Atlas, so great was the burden he carried on his shoulders. During Tests he played in that decade, Headley scored 26.5 per cent of West Indies’ runs, a lower share than Kohli has scored of India’s away runs so far this year.

By the time Ravichandran Ashwin flashed James Anderson behind, 68 other Indian batsmen had been to the wicket and back, with only that solitary half-century of Pandya’s between them. That is why India have reached 300 just once across seven completed innings in this sequence of games.

Eighty years ago, Headley was simply bereft of batting team-mates with much Test pedigree. The great frustration for Kohli is it is not the same for him. The rest of the top six in this Test have 29 Test centuries between them – even though Cheteshwar Pujara, and his 14 Test hundreds, was dropped due to a dreadful stint for Yorkshire.

Little of this pedigree was evident as India began their chase of 194. Four of India’s five wickets fell caught behind; several of those – especially Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane – were aberrant wafts, lacking the meticulous judgment the murky conditions demanded. Worst of all, there was little sign of the lessons from the brutally fought Test series in South Africa – or Kohli’s mesmerising 149 in the first innings – being absorbed.

The Dhawan cycle goes like this. He scores gluttonously on Indian pitches, where the lack of seam movement means that he is free to use his timing and power to thrash the ball through the off side.

The runs mean that he demands selection when India next tour a country where opening is less agreeable. Only, when confronted with seam and swing, Dhawan’s game suddenly seems ill-suited to the demands of Test cricket again. So he is dropped – as he was after three miserable Tests in England in 2014, three indifferent ones in Australia in 2014-15, and one poor game in South Africa in January.

Then, when he returns to home climes, Dhawan returns to being supreme – in India’s solitary Test between the series in South Africa and England, he crashed 107 off only 96 balls against Afghanistan. The upshot was that Dhawan could hardly be left out again, even after he mustered a pair against Essex in India’s lone warm-up match.

Dhawan’s fate embodies India’s challenge in converting their phenomenal home form into a team who thrive away, and so can not merely be world No 1 in a flawed age of Test cricket but a team whose greatness cannot be denied. In some ways the intensification of home advantage is bizarre – it belies that away teams have better hotels and more comfortable travel than ever before. They can study conditions and learn from foreign coaches. And, perhaps most importantly, the Decision Review System means that away teams are not at the whim of umpiring decisions made under the pressure of a baying home crowd.

India have played four away Tests this year. Virat Kohli has made two centuries and one 50. The rest of the team? Only 1 50 between them.

My point was not to compare Sachin and Kohli. It’s a great dis service to their contributions.
I was only pointing the rimes they both played. Back then cricket was a religion and our team was under constant pressure. Also remember teams back then were relatively equal so Sachin’s record was a case carrying weight of a billion expectations and performing for the county

Ippudu may be I am sync but cricket antey antha passion undani anukotledu. So virat case is exemplary because of the sheer self motivation to perform despite relatively lower expectations from the team.

Sachin would be the last player to play for himself. Remember not just as a batsmen he was a great fielder in his time. I hardly remember him misssing catches or misfielding
As someone said no point comparing both are great players

Guys who are comparing SA him to Kohli
Not sure if you watched Sachin innings
Compared to the quality bowling sachin faced
Kohli is playing with jujubi bowlers and no of matches

Kohli is great but no way compared to sachin

Sachin played in bowlers era now not even one class blower
.those who are serious about their watches display them prominently, those who are more concerned with style and branding present you with aircraft carriers and hide their watches.

so you agree that he is a contributor like others, may be better contributor.

in the process of achieving your own records, you some how lose the whole purpose of the game.

may be Sachin is technically more talented than Kholi but he lost his goal.

Virat ki personal glory is just a bonus, his goal is victory.

Virat will inspire and pass on his legacy like Ganguly , Dhoni , Kapil

Very bad accusation on some one who played for the country for 24 years..

It takes a lot to be even staying relevant that long in any career(even in a desk job)..forget about sport..

Too soon for the thread, let him win the match tomorrow.

Even if he scores 1000 runs in the match and India loses , then no use.

If England wins tomorrow then kurrain 60 runs got more value than Kohli's 200 + runs.

Its so evident today, the other batsmen were struggling, where as Kohli is rotating the strike so easily.. He is a gem.
