When i got a chance to move to UK , I was skeptical but wanted to try and now i feel lucky to take that decision .. My lifestyle has changed and circle has changed.. Started going out with locals .. summar balls, wine tasting , theatre, comedy shows etc... Atleast for me personally, I liked UK better than US (Lived in dallas, South carolina, Minneapolis) Country is small , so is everything. but does it really matter other than boasting to your community about how big my house is and my garden is ???? I might move to US in next few years purely because of Career growth .. I will ceiling here in UK and next step would be US to grow in corporate ladder.. which i am not very keen on but will do i suppose. | ||

I don't know those details yet because I am just starting out here in the UK and not yet in a league that can buy houses. Maybe film fan, Havingfun can commet on it. According to some website (like Rocket Mortgage in the US), I am apparently eligible for a housing loan of 95,000 GBP. The house I am renting currently is 620K So, yeah I can't even dream right now about buying a house. Earning potential US is definitely much better. Ikkada 80K GBP package vasthe aahaa oho annatlu. My personal views only. Not generalising. 1. Everything is big in the US. "Maaku station chaalaa daggara raa... just five miles anthe!". UK lo annee miniature version of US laa untaayi. 2. UK lo driving is more sedate and laid back - compared to the US. Speed limits, lane discipline, lane hoarding etc - UK is better. 3. US feels more like India than the UK. Great atmosphere for Indians. Indian stuff, food, aacharaalu, vyavahaaraalu, anuraagaalu, aapyaayathalu annee unnaayi US lo. Indians will feel right at home in the US. UK lo alaa undadhu. (Maybe certain pockets in London - yes but overall - not even close) 4. People are friendlier in general in the US. Not just Indians. Road meedha velthunte eye contact ayithe smile ivvadam - small talk cheyyadam etc. UK lo rare idhi. Oka vela small talk start ayinaa entha thondaragaa aapesi thama pani thaamu chesukundhaamaa ani untaaru. Rental car agency lo adakkundaane upgrades vasthaayi. UK lo vaadi kaallu pattukoni brathimalaadinaa use undadhu. 5. Restrooms lo over usage of paper towels. Ekkada air dryers kanipichavu US lo. UK lo opposite. Paper towels ekkado rare gaa kanipisthaayi. Wherever you go, you find air dryers only. 6. Schools - UK lo unnantha density ledhu anukunta US lo. For instance, maa inti nundi east velthe 200 yards lo oka primary school. South lo 200 yards lo oka primary school. North lo 300 yards lo oka secondary school unnaayi UK lo. Daantlo oka school catchment area loki maa illu raadhu. US lo catchment areas peddhavi anukunta primary schools ki kooda. Also, US lo school buses unnaayi. (Big positive). UK lo no school buses at all. Either walk or car lo drop cheyyaali. (Maybe because ikkada catchment is so small you can almost always walk ani undocchu). Also UK lo mostly middle schools are gone. Primary extends from Reception to Grade 6. Then it is high school. Grade three lo middle school ku shift avadam chaalaa rare. 7. Technology/Gadgets - asalu comparison kooda anavasaram. US is miles ahead of UK. 8. Cost of living - UK >>>> US ; Earnings US >>>> UK 9. Racism - No personal experience in the US. Kaabatti no comments. UK lo konni bad experiences unnaayi especially nothern England lo. Wales feels more like the US - friendlier people. Scotland and Ireland - no idea. 10. UK is closer to India of course. 8 hours flight to Hyderabad. Can't beat this US 11. Indian Cinema - No comparison at all. US >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> UK 12. Shopping/Malls - US >>>>>>>> UK. 13. Vegetarian food (Outside Indian food) - UK >>>>>> US. You can just walk into any restaurant and have at least 3 to 4 main course dishes that are vegetarian. 14. Finally, airport security/immigration - At least JFK >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LHR. Even with an Indian passport, I could use the automated lanes in JFK. LHR lo 2 hours in immigration lane though I live there!
