This is a silly notion propagated by Subbu fans. How can IT be abolished, unless we are a Gulf country floating in oil. And Income tax is a more progessive tax than indirect taxes which affect the poor disproportionately and is considered regressive. In India the challenge is not high taxes, but the belief that we do not get anything in return - we have to get our own security guards, our own generators, RO water filters, private schools and transport. If we end up doing everything ourselves, why do we need to pay taxes. That is the grouse of the citizens. | ||
