After pleading not guilty, if still you are on the losing edge, you can request the Judge to allow you to take Traffic court(which allows you to avoid a ticket on your driving record). But If I am you, I will stand strong. Do good homework to cross examine the cop in verities of WAYS.. like what was the time, how was the climate? Is there any car before or after me, how can you be assured of the speed limits (at first speed number, at second speed number, and at the third speed number)? Did you see any board OR any reference in your book etc.. Assuming this is your second speeding ticket in 2 months, it is not likely that it will be dismissed by the judge. If you go to court and talk to Defense Attorney, they will give you 3 options. 1. Plead Guilty, pay fine. 2. Plead not guilty, Go to trial (With jury or without - 2 options). 3. Plead guilty and take defensive driving course to dismiss the ticket. Mee situation ki I would suggest No 3. This will keep it from going onto your driving record. And insurance rate perige chances takkuva. If you go with option two assuming you did not speed and the cop is at fault, you should lawyer up. They cost as much as your current fine. | ||

moreover what cop mentioned to you doesn't matter, what is there on citation is what judge sees. So no use of it. Then what speed were you going at the time he stopped also doesnt matter. Since he had another cop to corroborate he has more weight, Unless he doesnt show up to court, you will have issues proving you are right and cop is wrong. Koncham confusion ga vundhi.. meeku original ga ticket(citation) ichinappudu.. dhani meedha oka date vuntadhi kadha. That is the date before which you have to send Guilty or Not Guilty. What is the paper you are waiting for ?? General ga ilanti cases trial ki vellavu.. they will settle for a lesser charge out of court. You *generally* should always go with Not Guilty'. Guilty ani fine kattesthe.. you will penalized to the maximum allowable. Another option is to write a letter to the court explaining situation and requesting reduction in infraction. General ga if this is first ticket, the will reduce the offense and send you a ticket for lesser offense(for me speeding of 10+ was reduced to parking by writing a letter to court) Lawyer is always the best option. But you will have to spend around 300$ (approx. you have to shop for the lawyer) | ||

When he stopped me i was at 60@60 speed...So i was kind of shocked..enti ippudu ilaa ani..nenu em speed vellatam ledhey ani. He is a young makku cop and must be mid 20's. Mam you are going over the speed limit 70 in 50 ani cheppaadu..even before i responded..he took my DL and went back to his car. Inkoka cop car kooda undi thanatho. After 10mins he came back to my window side and asked about my current address. New address cheppa..and ticket edho ivvataaniki prepare avuthunnaadu. Then i decided to talk to him on my speed. Fine+court charges..number choosi gundey gubelu mandhi. e roju court ki call chesi vallaki clear ga explain chesa..nenu fine mail lo vasthadhi ani wait chesthunna..i didnt knew i have to appear in court ani. Also cop cheppina 3 speeds scenario cheppa thanaki. If you want to plea non gulity..written/in person letter raasi isthey Attorney will check the video from that night and will take the final decision andhi. Guilty ayethe trail ki velthundhi. So what sould i do now? |
