 idi over My daughter learned everything from ipad and TV. There are lot of age appropriate programs on PBS 13 and other channels. Ma vadi ki ekkuva TV oddu ni ni la ga strict ga unnam initial ga vocabulary sanka nakindi and compare with my daughter she is allowed to watch her daily programs but no more than 1 hour a day and she chooses what she wants and play it on DVR.... her vocab is way ahead comparison ani kadu but thsi is the significant difference I found. I spoke to one of the student counselor at a school and she also advised controlled viewing for a certain amount of a day is good. naaku OP question ki answer telvad... maa papa ki 8 months... i dnt measure or compare her on day to day basis or even monthly.. actually never even thought abt looking online and see what a 8 month old kid should do... she smiles at me/wife/strangers, looks at me when i call her, she tries to talk back when i talk to her, pulls my hair, cries, laughs, gets mad and makes fists and screams, crawls, walks holding on to something, plays with the toys, she can identify parents even in group of 10 adults.. i felt this is normal.. so didnt even care to check with someone.. Check up ki pothe doctor will say her growth is normal.. adi naa benchmark... hopefully i am not taking it too easy (ee thread soosthe nen way too easy going anipistundi).. | ||

Learning abc is important....but the kids childhood is more important than that....let them not feel stressed with goals from nowitself,,,, We started teaching A to Z to our first one and by the time she went to school, she could write all capital letters and identify all lowercase letters too.... School lo join chesaaka artham ayyindi enti ante, their process of teaching is totally differnt. They don't teach alphabets in the same order as a b c d...and they teach only lower case....they don't even teach alphabets. But they teach phonics and also teach blending the letters to form small words, simultaneously,,,,so, she has to unlearn whatever she learnt by spending her precious time. Hence for our second son, though we know what he and how he will be taught, we don't want him to loose his time on these silly things. Let him learn from the teachers and in his own time. hey dude... sorry to jump in late here I am in India after staying in US for many years. my kid is learning a lot here in India than in US; but that does not mean you need to jump to India exclusively for this. dont confuse them and disturb their learning curve. spend more and more time together and all will be set. kid is just 3.5 years and please dont have this typical mindset of comparing with peers. everyone will have their own learning style and curve; don't take these hasty decisions under pressure... kid having both parents together makes a lot of difference. you in US; wife and 2 kids in India for 1 year will have its own disturbances for long term! my 2 cents. | ||
