Dhoni is one of the best finishers the game has ever known. He fared way better in far more challenging situations facing way better bowlers. For his capability, Jaddu to partnership undaga oka 2-3 fours/sixes tagilinchi unte, pressure would have fallen on the Kiwis and Jaddu wouldn't have gone for risky shot to accelerate getting caught by Kane Williamson.
Got a feeling that Dhoni wanted to be a "last over last ball" hero like he did in the past and kept pushing it towards the end.
Very poor opening by Rohit, Rahul and Virat. Mugguru 1 meeda out avvadam surprise. Dinesh Karthik was jaga bokka and pillakayas Pant and Pandya threw away their wickets at the right time. |

Outstanding Partnership by Dhoni and Jadeja..
From an impossible scenario, They took it to a 50-50 situation...
I am talking about only this match, Dhoni cannot be criticized at all.. We might not even have got to 150 from 92/6 if he didn't provide a stand to Jadeja, giving him strike.
Only mistake today was not sending Dhoni at 4 to soak all the pressure and let Pant, DK, Pandya and Jadeja to play freely with him.
Still, Team India played beautifully all along the Tournament. Proud of their performance !! |

Rajusk:lesson for Pant/Pandya..never hit spinners from the crease ..probably learnt the lesson at the worst time
Pant did not read the spin. That shot was on for the ball spinning into him. Santner took the ball away and that changed from with the spin shot to against the spin shot. Premeditation came out wrong in its entirety.
Hardik played half a sweep shot. I think that was not a bad shot to play. He closed the bat to keep it down. At least that's what I thought.

Extremely disappointed with Dhoni. All he needed was rotate the strike better, hit odd boundary after 45th over and support Jaddu. He failed miserably.
