IR compositions are always having that magic that touches heart. I have been always telling that Singers if they dont get this right, the song doesn't go to listeners to feel that magic that touches the heart. IR is blessed to have superb singers who understood those minute nuances and deliver what exactly IR was trying to convey thru his music. For a layman this is not relevant as singers did their job always, but when you understand why IR did that little extra or little less, which is done on purpose, thats where listeners get emotional when they get this. No listener is exception.. Thats where IR stands out from the rest. And all these happen naturally and quickly to him. Thats why no one can even come closer to this genius which came as natural gift to him. Again whether its voice or an instrument, if it conveys what exactly IR is trying to say, there cannot be anything better justice done to IR's composition.. very well put, thats the very reason why IR never changes his compositions once he finalizes it. People often attribute this to head weight without understanding the reason why. I ask the same question every time I watch programs like swarabhishekam. IR adopted western classical composition religiously. There are distinct notes with clear instructions of when and how much you can modify a note...singer's voice is just like any other instrument...its the combination effect that gives so much beauty to his songs...on the stage, many singers even SPB get carried away and use their own gamakas to add the effect...least realizing that they are actually changing the harmony of the song. I told this to my friend today - IR doesn't like any instrument to sound different than what he composed, given voice is an important instrument in his songs - I wonder how he is bearing his own immortal compositions being screwed by singers with less capabilities. Prathi paata vinnaka - I had to go and listen to the original song for the original feel. May better sense prevail between IR and SPB and they bury their differences and collaborate together yet again for all their fans. | ||
