This wud hav actually worked better....too many great roles in NTRs career to cover them all. Lava Kusa was major miss as it was his greatest Industry Hit and the impact movie which gave him the Demi God status. | ||

One more thing I missed mentioning are the songs. Nearly all of them are in the background...But beautiful gems. Katha Naayaka is rousing and would have worked well even in the movie too instead of Titles. Bantureethi Koluvu is a beautiful composition between NTR and his wife. Vendi Thera Dhora is stirring and it single handedly elevated the Diviseema episode. All these three little gems are classics even though they don't stand out as separate songs. This is no doubt one of Keervanis best work even though underrated. | ||

Except that picture perfect.They have captured many things and most importantly so many new things are shown. Meeting sage in Mudhumalai forest and he calling him viswa vikhyata nata sarvabhowma How he gave opportunities to his roommates Highlight is Ravana Brahma scene and his dedication Indira gandhi - Madrasi scene and many more. There is no Eulogy anywhere .It was pictured as a world class classic. Believe me this is the move that can be shown to non- telugu s with pride. Perfect casting.I liked Trivikrama rao character. Ramudu ki Lakshmanudi laga baga set ayyadu. I felt they could have added Lava Kusha scenes could be added which made him modern Rama. I second this!! You just had skepticism...I was scared when bala Krishna announced the movie !!  But krish did a great job!! In fact a fabulous job.Krish took anecdotes in NTR life and created scenes. That was awesome Balakrishna has got the body language of NTR. That was unbelievably good!!. But there were several places he fell short. Vethiki chusthe Chala mistakes vuntayi but it was a pleasant experience overall. I cannot question blakrishna's effort in this movie | ||

Show watched at AMB Cinema. First reactions to a Biopic on NTR was pure skepticism. He was a great admirable man and his larger than life persona is a really difficult act to potray on Screen. And it was the story of the man who was loved across Telugu States for his various talents and one who had touched nearly every Telugu person's heart. So any $crew up by Bala and Team wudnt have gone well. Krish being a part of the Project gave a little hope but still was a fingers cross situation. Amid the speculation, NTR movie was a relief and a pleasant surprise. Krish and Bala have delivered a beautiful homage to the great NTR. 1st Half: Movie starts with NTR's journey as a Govt Officer and his eventual foray into Cinema. From then on, we are introduced to a number of great legends of Telugu Cinema. Any one who knows their TFI history would love those potrayals of LV Prasad, Nagi Reddy - Chakrapani, KV Reddy, Marcus Bartley, HM Reddy, A Subba Rao, ANR, Savitri, Shaukaar Jaanaki, SVR, Relangi, Krishna Kumari, CSR, Gummadi, Vittalachaari, C Narayana Reddy, Vempati Satyam, Dasari, JS, JP, Sridevi and the list goes on.... As a fan of B&W Cinema, it was a treat to see them come alive. A lot of focus is also given to NTR's better half and her unwavering support to her husband through thick and thin. One also gets to see NTR's persona of his Discipline, Stubborness and Lion hearted nature. Only thing I missed in 1st half was a missed opportunity to show NTR in his prime as he was known to be one of the most handsome man of his era, but we do put up with a 60 yr old Bala trying his best to look 30. That apart, 1st Half is a good introduction to his Cine life which builds up curiosity and the Interval Bang is decent. 2nd Half: This is the part where the movie gets into its own. You suddenly see Bala looking perfect as NTR as he now potrays a 50 yr old NTR which more suits him to the T. There is a lot of emotional connect too as your see NTR become socially conscious and think about the people who give him so much love. Some of the best parts of the movie talk about self criticism which was refreshing to see in a movie which otherwise would have gone overboard. The technical issues with DVSK and NTRs commercial movies are subtly criticised as is the commentary when NTR and ANR get ready to face the younger generation of Heroes. The movie ends on an emotional high post Diviseema Floods and by then we totally feel NTR's political foray was but a natural evolution of his persona. Perfomances: Though a bit odd in the beginning, Bala completely rocked the look and act of 50 yr old NTR. After a point you just see NTR on the screen. There was a lot of honesty in his potrayal. A lifetime performance from him. Vidyabalan is simple perfect as Basavatarakam garu. Every other character and guest artist is simply perfect in their roles. Especially loved Nithya, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma and Sumanth in their potrayals of Savitri, Nagireddy, Chakrapani and ANR. Special mention to Gnanasekar VS's excellent Cinematography where he captured the essence of the era. Keeravani's BGM was simply majestic and there could have been none better. Burra Sai Madhavs dialouges are an asset. This is one of Krish's best work as a Director. However, looking at the choppy editing, you do feel when would Krish get sufficient time instead of just 45 days to flush out the movie even perfectly. Had he had a lil more time, the lil wrinkles wud have got ironed out . Analysis: I was surprised to see such a neat and clean movie on NTR. I say that because NTR being a Mass Superstar and larger than life kinda Hero, it wuld have been very easy to have gone overboard and keep singing praises about his Movies, Acting, Collections, Numero Uno status etc. But No. It was almost as if the team decided not to state the obvious and just focus on telling the story they wanted to tell without any unnecessary eulogy except where necessary. The self assuredness about the greatness of NTRs talent was obvious without even stating it. There were a few goosebump moments in the movie and none more than his introduction high as Sri Krishna. It was a total fan moment and shows why he became matinee idol for many. Nowhere there are ugly comparisions to others stars or highlighting any little controversies of that era. It focuses more on NTRs view point about the people around him, Life and the Society. His camaraderie with ANR is shown in such a beautiful way that even Akkineni family members would feel proud. NTR's love for his wife is brought to life by the wonderful chemistry that Balakrishna and Vidyabalan share. The movie gives us an insight into his magnanimity, his love for society and his response to real life problems rather than showcase his highs achieved in Movies. However, one also gets the feeling that One or Two movies are simply not sufficient to capture NTRs lifestory (50 yrs) the way they could capture Savitri's life (25 yrs). For the inevitable comparision, I would say Savitri Biopic was like a journey through a beautiful river with all its nuances whereas NTR Biopic feels like travel in the Ocean where you know despite all the travel, you havent seen it all. All in all, a very clean, classy movie paying a tribute to the great legend. It also serves as a little preview to Mahaanayakudu where there is bound to be a lot more drama. Rating - 3.75/5 A Classic! Forget ratings, BO numbers and simply go watch it. } |
