tax saver fixed deposits The fixed deposits can be purchase for a minimum amount of Rs. 100, and then in multiples of Rs. 100. The maximum amount eligible under a tax saver fixed deposit is Rs. 100,000 for a financial year. You would be able to claim a maximum of Rs. One lac as a tax deduction. This fixed deposit is locked for a 5 year period and money can't be withdrawn nor can it be pledged for any reason during this tenure. that's what I am referring to. it looks very conservative. cash is not always king. inflation in India is very high and your 75 lakhs today may be worth less than 50 in 10 years. for time being you can leave it in short term FDs but think about investing (half of that amount) in some fixed assets where you can generate positive cash flow that can beat the inflation. | ||

you may never want to put ALL the cash in FD. cash depreciates over time due to inflation. if you more cash then it's fine, but if you have only 75lakhs then put half in to the FDs and half in to some commercial real estate or some thing in that line so you can get rents for cash flow and also the asset won't depreciate over time. also don't deposit everything in one name or in one bank. | ||
