The journey to the airport from the city continues to be difficult despite the government hurriedly opening four lanes of the eight lane Outer Ring Road phase-1 project from Gachibowli to Shamshabad. As such, you can only drive from Gachibowli to APPA junction. The road then stops at the Himayatnagar Bund and a further drive is not possible because of the Rajendranagar Hillocks from where there are no diversions. To reach the Rajiv Gandhi International airport people have to go from Gachibowli to Mehdipatnam and drive along the inner ring road. Half-completed bridges and improper carpeting of roads is adding to the problem. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has created diversions for vehicles at many places because of the lack of bridges. Only half of the inaugurated stretch is complete and bituminous work is yet to be taken up. Underpasses for vehicles are also to be completed. so much so for inaugurating on time on November 14th |
