no.. idelogical brainwash is main factor for ghadis. otherwise someone living in USA or a doctor working in australia dont need to become a ghadi

I have many colleagues whose kids are going into the military straight out of high school - Brilliant kids The education at the military colleges is the best and cheap - Westpoint is consistently rated at the top

there is an element of patriotism + low cost alternative there. If they truly want the best colleges and if they can qualify, there are way better options compared to west point. I have a friend as well who left a lucrative wall st job and joined the marines after 9/11. but the fact remains that a majority join because of the benefits that come with the army. it's not surprising though - that's been the trend with armies everywhere in the world.

Patriotic reason tho velle vallu entha mandi untaru asalu. If economy is good and all is well, how many people will actually go. Thats why in many well established europian countries where everyone is happy, they make millatary service for me mandatory. Becuase otherwise, no one will join and take the risk.

A lot of them don't have passion or resources to go to college, so to get away from home and figure out what they want to do in their life, they tend to choose this after high school. Also, army will pay for their education, medical throughout their life for their families....which is so much better than flipping burgers.

Most of them join for benifits, like free college education. some join because there is no better thing to do in their rural towns..

Infact Army recruiters prey on youngsters in rural towns, pursuade them saying they will never have to go to 'actual war'.

No one ever said that, it is wrong. in fact they are doing great service to the country (army in any country) by sacrificing their personal life

Its wrong to assume that USA is land of riches. Manam pomu kani asalu vellaleni places untayi and ika interor places lo ayithe who drop out of schools have no other options now. Intakamundhu at least they used to have blu collar jobs and because of outsourcing, they have vanished.

These army recruiters also prey on high school kids promising money for education, housing, retirement and they sell the Patriotism.

BTW, whats wrong in joining national forces/law enforcement./Fire fighting. Manam ante lazy gabatti parents manaki rekkalu vache varaku spon feeding chesaru nd manam mana pillalaki adhey chestunnam. Where is the killer instinct.

I think it is helpful if someone has an army back ground in US as you are considered to have strong leadership. you can transfer it to corporate background after pursuing MBA or law etc.

how many of them do that? i.e using their army credentials to make it big in corp world. not even 2-3% cases i guess

no they dont have better options. they also get in for the same employment reason if you ignore the truly patriotic ones. notice that army recruitment centers are almost always in the inner cities concentrated around poor neighborhoods.

I always had this doubt. What makes so many people join in Army?

Patriotic reason pakkana pedithe, i am sure good % of people join Army as an employment.

Desam lo ayithe employment kosam army job OK.. but why in countries like us/uk? they have better options, right?

They make so many sacrifices in terms of personal life, family, health etc

Again, people joining for patriotic reasons - understandable. But why others?

met some army guys on the plane to san antonio few weeks ago. very disturbing stories :-(

So i kept wondering WHY?
