Exactly. You hit the nail there. India as a government force should stop interfering one way or another in the SL matter. History shows that India 'eaffed' up big time. There are enough internal problems to solve without being where you are not wanted. I mean, India can't even do anything when Indian cricket team is treated badly by Srilankan fans. There are bigger problems like Kashmir and NE to worry about. Pak on one end, China on another are recreating the atlas to suit their needs. Sigh... | ||

Please don't bring personal experience into general topics. For that matter, head to Karnataka region and they will say Telugus are cunning fellows. Everyone looks at the other guy as suspicious, even if his own brother looted him worse. From what I have read and heard(from Tamils outside of Chennai), Prabaharan's waterloo was that he didn't kill his enemies and traitors, at least, not where it mattered..:-) Rajiv is there that's most prominent but then the answer I get is 'do you expect a Jew will feel bad that Hitler died'... My knowledge is from books, but as far as I learned, LTTE killed their peers but their peers were set out to kill them as well. Self defence and state terrorism are two different things. LTTE's rise is due to state terrorism against one community. To kill children is just as bad as to arm them. But if a gang was coming towards my son with guns to kill him, I would probably pray he had some weapon(gun) to protect himself. A world that keeps quiet when children are killed cries wolf when children carry guns. That's all over the world. There is no difference between suicide bombers and states bombing their own citizens. Yet very few see the rational in that. Again, there is little point in stating facts or debating when knowledge and feelings are pretty low on a subject. Most of us don't really care about the SL issue and that's the hard fact. It is just a news item at the most. Even Chennai NRI's don't seem to care as much as other areas of TN. Anyhow... very little to add or debate on this matter... as always, most minds are made up.:-) My knowledge too is limited. | ||

During the war, both the sides committed heinous crimes. Once the war was over and the army took the tamilians as war captives, they had no business to kill them. What is disturbing is the way the army executed them. Strip them naked, blind their eyes with a cloth and then shoot them. Pathetic! and record these as treasure of war victory! | ||

I will give historic examples Ghazni was first defeated and pardoned by chauan. Later he came back and killed chauan. Azar mahamood was released for passengers but must have killed more than later. Anyhow, most people give random comments without bothering to learn about internal affairs. Either about Pak issue or SL issue. But than, no one is even bothered about NE India issue. LTTE is more justified than Subhash Chandra Bose was in his times in retaliating against state terrorism. At least the British treated all Indians equally and actually helped really lower/poorer/discriminated citizens by giving them land, opportunities. SL Tamils were given 3rd class treatment in their own country. From what I have read on the Tamil side( AND I for one believe the person who was whipped will know better than a third person what the pain was like), there were decades of nonviolent protests but those were met with violent actions by SL government. Any one will hit back after being abused and abused. Justifying state terrorism by claiming nationalism or forced nationalism is sad. Very sad. Everyone agrees that what SL did/is doing is wrong. But when you have powerful politics being played by so called 3rd world democracies(China/India), there is little that can be done... | ||

Are you saying Prabaharan is justified in killing since he wanted to save the lives of people being tormented by Indian army in North Sri Lanka? Are you saying that politicians can be killed if it saves the lives of 100s 'their civilians'? The concept of victim and oppressor should matter. People who live in North America should understand how a migrant population came in, increased population, took over and left sons of the soil high and dry. Isn't America working hard to make the disillusioned American be patriotic? Unless you are a blind redneck(and blind any country citizen), no one approves of killing innocent civilians.
