all the best and since you already have travel date with tickets, and since you will have soft copy of your marriage invitation take a print out of those and attach to the application. Don't leave any chance and take all remaining certificate copies and as someone said you can get new stamping easily on the new passport since it's been stamped once. good luck.. | ||

If you are at a very urgent need to start for SFO before receiving the police report copy, just ask the police to give the complaint number, officer name(tho whom that you have reported) and the police station address. Prepare a letter with those details(report time, police station details, officer name, phone number, complaint number etc) and present this letter to the Consulate and mention that you can supply the copy of the report as soon as the police station issues it to you. On the other hand, you are trying to get a fax copy of the report anyways. Usually robbery if its a small one, police take the complaint on phone and give the complaint number and the name of the officer assigned to that complaint, they wont wait for you to come to the police station or to have the officer visiting the place of issue. Just get the number and proceed. | ||

I personally had a very good experience with SFO consulate. They are Super friendly. Just go to the SFO consulate early in the morning(you can park the car in the side streets in the residential area, dont keep checking the main road side parking spots, just get into one of the side streets, you can find a spot easily, you can walk few steps from there). Tell them that you had a very serious family emergency and your house was robbed(take the police complaint copy. If you didnt get one, the police dept give you a complaint number, just present the complaint number, date, police department location where you have complained(better give these details in the request letter itself). Tell consulate that you have to take this passport in order to buy the airline ticket, so, sit right there..(taking a copy of the previous passport really helps them to issue immediate new passport). About I-94, dont worry at all... since you are leaving the country now, you can get a new one on your return. But dont even worry about the need for the return of I-94 to the airlines counter while you are leaving the country. Just give them a copy or give them the copy of your police report and tell them that your I-94 was lost(even I forgot to return my I-94 once to return it while leaving, nothing happened after that). All you must be worried about is to get the new visa stamping once you about to return(in India). I guess if you properly plan, you can manage it smartly. If you happen to need any help in the SFO consulate, I may be helpful for you with my prior experience. In fact I had a very good experience with them on emails too. I got consulate replied my emails when I have tried to renew my passport, my mother's life certificate etc.. try all the possible ways.. you can manage this issue dear. | ||
