saw some angry outbursts on my comments regarding illegal content downloaders, somehow my video was interpreted as an "arrogant warning to all NRI's." I apologise if I sounded like that. It was an anguished warning âonly for serious/serial offenders.â Some of the comments were misunderstood, some of them plain stupid and few justified. Here's my expanded version for the misunderstood and justified. Stupids are best ignored. First, whatever I mentioned about antipiracy is not just about Eega but for any film. Second, the action taken is not by me but the AP Film Chamber appointed ANTI VIDEO PIRACY CELL. The Anti Video Piracy Cell has established close ties with the Motion Picture Association and is also working closely with other Anti Piracy Agencies in various countries like Federation Against Copy Right Theft (FACT) and Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy ( International Chamber of Commerce). AVPC is also working with the US Consulates through which it would have quick access to other Enforcement Agencies in the US like FBI and even INS. This allows AVPC to leverage the relationships and also go after online pirates and infringing actions of individuals in a multitude of ways. The AVPCâs Cyber Piracy Cell is tracking IP addresses and is segregating the down loaders as per their frequency / tendency to download pirated content. The AVPC then would approach the various agencies and to initiate a graduated response against those with the higher tendency to download illegal content. Several countries in the Europe ( Hadopi in France (Digital Economy Act in UK ))and Asia have adopted the Graduated Response already. US too has started the 5 strike approach. The AVPC will be pursuing with the local ISPs and Agencies to temporarily suspend, or disconnect Internet access to the use who had received three warning notices of instances of copyright infringement. Besides initiating enforcement actions against illegal down loaders under all the available acts and jurisdictions, AVPC also would be reporting such frequent illegal down loaders to the US agencies with a strong request to view his tendency to infringe on copyrights also as a potential threat to the IPR even in US. THIS WILL HAVE A BEARING ON THE CORRESPONDING INDIVIDUALS BONAFIDES AND MAY NOT BE VIEWED FAVORABLY WHILE PROCESSING THEIR PAPER WORK. The implications of being caught engaged in online piracy are not simple. Just because one downloads an illegal torrent does not mean one is innocent. They become party to the act and guilty of copyright infringement. Last week few B Tech graduates and software professionals were arrested in Hyderabad in connection with Online Piracy. While some of them are doing it for wrongful gains and were monetizing pirated movies files by posting them and spreading them on torrent sites, several others particularly youngsters in their group were doing it without realizing the seriousness of their illegal actions or that they are leaving their footprints behind in the form of their ip addresses and that they could be tracked down and reported sooner than later. Cases of copyright infringement can be booked under Indian Copyright Act, Information Technology Act and even DMCA in the USA and other relevant acts elsewhere. There are 6,55,000 illegal downloads of Eega within a week of it's online leak. Additionally there will be thousands of other movie downloads, which takes total downloads into millions. This makes the probability of finding the illegal downloader into one in thousand or a million. But the point is... WILL YOU RISK IT? If I were in that position I wouldn't. The choice is yours! PIRACY AND PLAGIARISM Many commented that what right do we have to comment on piracy when we are guilty of plagiarism. Let's say I have violated the copyright... Does that give you the moral right to download illegal content or watch a pirated DVD? The logic completely beats me. Friends, I am sorry to say that most of the commenters don't know what is a copy, inspiration and which of these are actually copyright infringements. When MPAA is through with APVC on anti piracy process, the obvious Next step would be looking into copyright infringements. Now if my films are found by them to have violated the copyright act, I am ready to face the consequences. In fact, I am looking forward for that. PIRACY AND HIGH TICKET PRICES A few comments justified piracy because of high ticket prices. If Maruti 800 is priced as much as Ferrari, What do we do? Steal or just donât buy? Guys Câmon, you know how supply and demand works. If the supplier feels that there is drop in buyers, he'll drop the prices and vice versa. This implies for any product, not just for films!! Personally I don't know how the distributor is charging more on tickets for a telugu film than a Hollywood film. It completely baffles me. But he is the investor, so I have no right to ask him to drop the prices or interfere with his business model. MY COMMITMENT TOWARDS FIGHTING PIRACY I am sane enough to understand that the fight against piracy is a herculean task, but the reality is if no action is taken against piracy now, then the future of entertainment industry is bleak, and I am committed to fight against piracy to the best of my ability! | ||

This is called "shifting stance as per one's convenience". 1st and the most important thing that I would like to ask him is , if at this very moment someone raids his house , can he give the guarantee that there would not be one pirated material in his house. Let it be music, movies and even softwares, if no then he loses his right to question the nri's right there. 2nd, if this is not about eega, where the hell was he and Mr.Suresh babu when pirates were going bonkers with clips and movie recordings of the recent big hit Gabbar Singh? A case of pure selfishness is seen here. 3rd and the most important one which was easily sidelined by Mr.Rajamouli, that there is no copyright violation or plagiarism in any of his movies, he probably assumes or is referring to the statement someone made about Magadheera being copied from Troy/300 which I agree is inspiration. He also quotes in his public statement that the MPAA will check his movie before filing the piracy case or reports against individuals, which is definitely not the case as they have much better and important things to do. His movie plagiarism will come to light only when a studio approaches the MPAA and sues the other party for blatant ripping of content, which again will never happen as they have far and better things to do. Thus affecting only the so called "NRI PIRATES". And just so that he knows or people know that his movie Maryada Ramanna was a complete scene to scene rip off of an old movie, which if the studio claims could land Mr. Rajamouli and co in prison and also be charged a bulky amount of compensation. I do not want to comment about his other movies as I would have to waste my time in watching their Hollywood counterparts to make a list of all the plagiarized scenes.No thanks! And music of Keeravani, better not talk about it, people who have a music ear for international and even national music should already be in the know by now. 4th point...I have come to an understanding from what Mr.Rajamouli has been saying off late that he is the epitome of "half- knowledge syndrome". Seriously , supply and demand? Then the whole case of that supply and demand is affected by innumerable factors , right from the producers to the overseas distributors and exhibitor , theater rents , movie stars , a director's past track record , weekend's and so on. It's not just " we are quoting a high price , they pay that and charge you guys more supply and demand chani". Please Mr.Rajamouli, when you contradict yourself in the very next sentence by saying that you do not know why the overseas ticket prices are more than their hollywood counterparts , it's better if you do not say anything on the matter! Lastly, I would like to say that this whole rant is about how illogical it is for a big-shot director to make sweeping statements without first knowing the situation of the whole Piracy-Copyright issue. Having a name and public platform , with media on you side and a good number of fans as well , all the while making it look like a sorrow filled statement which has no monetary benefit to self , doesn't make one RIGHT! Sincerely, An NRI who never misses a good telugu flick at the cinemas and has the sanity to judge the difference between piracy and plagiarism, having a knowledge of which one is a more grave offence!
