scallion, we get so carried away when it is pup and make a few mistakes. these are the things to avoid. 1) let it not climb sofas and beds. it will be hard to quit later. this is also psychological for dogs. when they are alone, they recollect what we do and repeat. like sit on a sofa and chew a paper (their version of sitting on a sofa a reading it). this becomes a hassle later. 2) do not feed anything at all while your family eats, at the table. this is a #1 problem. this is not only a problem when guests visit but also adds to its weight. 3) make sure he can play on his own. give him a soft toy. all you need is stuff an old sock with a soft cloth and tie it up with a string into some gnarly shape. that is his best toy. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

Bro, I suggest that you, and your family train the pup together. all the commands you plan to teach her, make sure the rest of your family can carry out with the same assertiveness as you do. this is an important to your dog, as she will understand that your family is above her in the hierarchy in her mind. its easier to do it in this age, than later. once he understands her place, you dont have to worry about her crossing the line, usually this happens when she feels a threat. like someone unknown comes to your place, and she suspects a threat, i have seen some dogs cannot be controlled unless the alfa male of the house is present. this can be easily avoided, if she is trained to listen to the entire family from this age. hope i made sense the world of appearances may or may not be real, or both may and may not be real - or may be indescribable; or may be real and indescribable, or unreal and indescribable; or in the end may be read and unreal and indescribable - its all Syadvada | ||

more than likely he veiws you as the leader of the group, and dogs do not mess with their leader. they will play and all, but they wont make a decision in regards to you without your signal. it is usually suggested that dogs recognize every human member of the family as a leader, but in most cases its not the same. unless your dog is getting too protective to the extent that she is not allowing others to get to you family members you dont have to worry, otherwise she needs more rules in place. Scal bro, we had a german shepherd for 8 yrs before he passed away coz of bloat.. 1) you could shower the dog every two weeks...every week cheyodhu, coz of 2 issues: (i) dogs don't have sweat pores like we do, so all the natural oils will be dried up if u shower the dog too often (ii) german sheperds have sensitive ears...most of them in desam suffer from ear infections..risk of ear infection increases if u shower the dog too often (water gets into the ear) 2) potty training a german is easy...just pick a spot in the backyard and get him to poop there once - just once.....next time u take him there, he'll help himself..follow mental's directions 3a) feeding a pup: if u r feeding pedigree, u could leave some stuff in there all day so the pup will eat whenever he feels like it.....pup needs more calories/food for rapid growth.. 3b) feeding an adult german: if ur dog doesn't wanna eat pedigree anymore, feed him rice + boiled eggs (3 for every meal) or rice + boiled chicken/beef.....germans are voracious eaters, make sure they eat their food SLOWLY..this is IMPERATIVE because the chances of bloat (a fatal condition) increase if ur dog eats too quickly.....you could place a rock in ur dog's food bowl so the dog takes more time eating around the rock thereby slowing his eating pace.. 4) germans are the BEST pets in the world....just be aware of this killer condition called BLOAT..pls post some pics when u get a chance..lastly ur dog will be a different beast in just 5 more months..ee 5 months IRAGA pettandi food....9 months tho growth aagipoddi.. | ||
