so your real cost is 4
let us assume these prices at EOW
550 - you make a profit of 1
530 - you make a loss of 4

570 - 6 profit

but reward is also curtailed
if you say 50/55 vertical
you buy 50 call and sell 55
you collect 55 calls premium
but if the stock keeps moving up you profit is capped after stock crosses 55
i do it more oftenly because i like to restrict my losses
