ikkada kaadu kaani, India lo aithe maa close relative adopted. Ikkada oka friend tried to adopt, but in the process of adoption, their IV treatment was successful. India lo process aithe I went thru the entire process for them,, when in Pune. Its a very long process, Ikkada aithe idea ledu. My cousin adopted a baby boy from India. (Vallu US lo untaaru) They had a five-year-old girl child but still wanted to adopt another one. That guy is a child prodigee. There's absolutely no difference in the way he is treated and everyone accepts him completely and one hundred percent. If you want to adopt, go do it. I know your question is NOT "whether I should" but is "How should I go about it" but I see a number of BS posts on this thread. Hence saying this. Another cousin of mine, lives in India, adopted a baby girl from Sisuvihar in Nellore. Again, acceptance is 100% by everyone (not just the parents) Also, if you are adopting from India, the officials always match your skin tone, features etc to the available babies and suggest only the babies that "they think" are the "best fit". You can always override though. Adoption is a lovely experience. You shouldn't have posted this on the DB though. Don't read these posts and don't get second thoughts. We had a counselling session as part of the adoption process where the counselors show/explain that some kids come with emotional trauma and baggage. We met a couple whose story was very similar to amrutha movie. Kid was angry and never could fit in the family. It opened our eyes for the hardships. Spouse and I realized how sensitive we were, tough and true unconditional love becomes subjective with each circumstance and child. We met several couples ranging from extremely happy to miserable. Also, we realized adopting game after one biological child is very different. The children are vulnerable to changing family dynamics and their teen years will show a great impact. Forget about love and being thankful. Dealing with doubt and motives is hard. | ||

We wanted to adopt and did a bit of research. But, didn't go ahead because of the process and constraints. It takes around 2 years and costs about 25k (if the parents are US citizens). Not sure, if things have changed.. Adopting Chinese and African kid is relatively easy. | ||
