You are right. They don't take away kids for good. They place them in temporary custody. Sometimes, this can be with a family member. In fact, in most cases, they try to bring the children back to their parents for reunification, provided they think it's safe for the kids. | ||

I agree with every thing you said. That is what I was thinking.. Also I don't think CPs takes away the kids (smaller than 3 ) . First preference is always given to relative identified by parents . They only do that if no one is available or willing to take!! | ||

I'm sure there is more to this story than is presented in Indian news media. First off, child abuse is relatively common, so there are many levels of protection for kids. Despite this, it continues to be common for various reasons. It's a law in almost all states that healthcare professionals (and in many states others such as teachers, daycare providers, pastors, teachers, social workers etc) have LEGAL obligation to report ANY suspected abuse to CPS. If you fail to report, and the child dies, you are held liable. So, who here is willing to take that risk?? From what's presented in the link, the hospital found an old fracture on an Xray done for other reasons. Obviously, there has to be a reason for that. Its got to be either trauma (accidental or non-accidental) or due to a medical condition. Given the age of the kid, the hospital is obligated to check all the bones in the body (Skeletal Survey) to look for other possible fractures. They will also have an Ophthalmologist examine eyes for retinal hemorrhage (from shaking the baby), and do blood work for liver injury (from any accidental abdominal trauma). If you as a parent are in a situation like, your only option is to cooperate. If you resist necessary, then you will be viewed with suspicion, and will certainly remove the kids from your custody until at least CPS have made sure that there is no reason to suspect child abuse. If parents not at fault, they will get their kids back. So, here is the question for everyone trying to judge in favor of the parents: If you are that 6-month old infant, would you not want someone looking out for you, if parents are the abusers? | ||

there are so many cases in this country of child neglect.. with stepmoms and stepdads.. so doctors/ hospitals are always super cautious and extra careful.. parents need to understand that doctors/staff will be suspicious when your kid has any physical injuries.. even if he gets it while playing etc.. just like when a cop stops you.. you need to follow what they say.. they take it very serious.. | ||
