I did not do it on my own ... i had great teachers, it was not Ramaiah though.. who knows if I stayed with Ramaiah, may be i could have done better, or may be not. For me force never works, but that may not be true for everyone... I know Ramaiah's style works for a lot of kids. | ||

Typical ... for dress/hair .. you have to stand out if you are late.. may be thats acceptable and be a motivative factor for most of the people in this thread but not for me.. IIT's are great institutes and getting into it is a great achievement but i think they way kids are taught to get into IIT is not the right approach (may be successful). One of my good friend (Northie settled in andhra) is from IITB , he was in my batch in bangalore.. He couldnt clear IIT in first attempt going to krishamoorthy but could crack on his own studying from home. My point is if the kid is intelligent, what value these guys are adding?? | ||

unfortunate to see the kid stuggling... he may need some counseling by someone he respects other than his immediate family.... sometimes kids cant handle pressure... i went to ramaiah... he scolded me for my hair on the first day.. never went back.. IIT raayaeledhu for few other reasons... but made it out with a decent EAMCET rank... for most kids those two years are a nightmare... for me those were one of my best years... cracked some really tough problems, the only thing was that there was no one breathing down my neck... | ||

yeah filtering is critical. and it's natural. everyday we filter people for whatever purpose. ramaiah factory andam kashtam le. they used to cater to exceptionally brilliant students even more personally. He would take special interest. But he definitely made it a science as close to as it can get. bombay had Ruparel college and chennai had PSBB .. nonstop iitians akkadninchi. aallaki kooda shake ayyedhi ramaiah products ni choosthey. these kids were just so prepared that first year in IIT used to be a breeze for them. I want to give an analogy. After 10th, we had a Math tutor who took an an entrance test to filter and pick the brightest students of the town. Of course, he was great, showed us greatest technics in Math during Intermediate. All the 30 students of him got great ranks in IIT/EAMCET.. everyone was into engg. with no exceptions. My point here is... filtering the cream of the cream as first step is important. Once you have students with utmost integrity, it is easy to teach/tune them. I give Ramaiah the kudos.. but he turned into another factory churning more and more of the same. | ||

I know both of them quite well....one of them as a colleague and another during college. Reasonably sure Mythili is not from ramaiah. Ekkada chadinivana both of them would have done very well Point enti ante any 15 or 16 year old will develop leaps and bounds if they are training well...it can be chess, maths, physics, Tennis or Cricket...so don't attribute that development to a particular institute. Oka 20% of reasonably intelligent students getting crushed for a few years..sometimes permanently...have only seen with the torture fellow. BTW...inka does he beat students?

I know many who opted out of ramaiah and still cracked. Coaching centers model the exam and questions for you. They know how professors think and frame questions. So it helps when you sit in a hall as you already have 2 yr of rigorous training. Obviously lot of talent comes out but if you ask me most of the 120 odd students he takes in merit batch will still crack iit without ramaiah, may b me ranks taggachu since you cannot get exam trained in our own at home In any case with benefit of hindsight I feel mana education lo enno flaws, we may be good at number crunching but not that great at abstract learning and visualization. Ippudu school teaching changed emo. For ex mana time lo English kuda line by line explain sesevaru which is so silly. They should create more abstract learning like writind own stories or making them realize different ways of comprehending same story etc. comedy was non detail kuda detail ga explain sesi home work ichevallu | ||

hmm .. many kids shift to evening classes when the morning classes are a bit too much. in fact, ramaiah actively recommends that in cases because that style is better for other kids. Sorry it didn't work out for you with him. you can pass on your love for physics to the next gen. | ||

who taught you? if it felt overwhelming, did you try moving to the evening classes? their firehose style is not suitable for everyone. one thing to note is that he is not just prepping people for jee but for the actual iit education eventually. standards are much higher with kids in chennai and mumbai. | ||

Again thats my personal view on ramayya along with the circle that i was going out then. You are right if kids are inherently intelligent , it would be easier for them to crack any intellectual test, then why do they need ramayya. Ramayya/krishnamoorthy has different style of teaching , which might not work with the kids who work out problems in a different way.
I felt that i was forced into adapt to a method that was being taught and there was no breathing space for me to step back and think logically on why that happened. I was very strong in physics until 10th and things have changed after the coaching .. Physics has become my nightmare subject when i was there its because i was dreaded to solve any problem given to me as there was lot of unnecessary pressure . Everyone was shit scared of that guy man ... They were teaching in a specific way where basics were not covered the way it should have been. again its my exp. I went Little flower , so had experience with krishnamoorthy as well. FYI .. I love physics and still read lot of things that happen in the world. I wanted to be theoretical physicist( dint know what it was called then ) or atleast in that direction but but but ... Some might like it but not for me... now dont compare results .. even chaitanya/narayana are getting them now a days, do you think thats the way to teach??? | ||

How ever I completely disagree your view on the overall quality of ramaiah sir. may be failure stories valla experience chesi untaru.. on the flip side..oka 15-20 yrs ramaiah ruled IIts so much that a telugu ranker during admission @ IIts considered to be studied at this premier institute. Also, the quality of students - Top rankers in narayana/srichaitanya Vs ramaiah are all together different. Ramaih rankers are all together different genre babais...naa bootho naa bhavishyathii aa sir deggara chadivina valla talent..IIts lo lo they topped at all categories..i can tell thousands of success stories of atleast 10 batches.. now times have changed and not sure how creamy the intake is.. I am from ramayya but was like 18 years back ... i joined because my dad wanted me to as there was some entrance and they thought it’s sure shot entry into IIT. I screwed up both IIT and Eamcet as they both were next to each other ... think I have some 4000+ in eamcet and not so good in IIT mains .. I still feel that had it not been ramayya I would have got into IIT. It’s worst institute ... not sure if something has changed .. Anyways I think that’s the best thing that happened to me in hindsight ... got into IIM B later and am doing good .. but that phase is worst (I don’t remember anything in +1 and +2 other than waking up at 3:30 and attending classes at 4 and then to college and then back to home to practice for next day ... worst | ||

PK aa. Maa batch ee ofcourse I was in Krishna Murthy . Topped cat and joined iima, took 3 years and joined Kpmg and started his own company forgot name. In my opinion if he can be at Olympiad level I think iit intlo sadivina kodathadu. I know many from my batch who quit Ramaiah and studied at home and cleared atlleadt 10-15 my year. So may be he hates ramaiah type set up. Also in general quality of Telugu students out of iit is way less than other counterparts , my 2 cents totally. Our students are not made to enjoy the process from 9-12 standard and once they are set free they go crazy. Iims lo kuda same scene | ||

oka 15 years back..IIT Madras lo every years 400 students intake...oka 10 students drop out after 3 or 4 years and restart an arts degree or join some some other engineering college...every one that i know went to Ramaiah...like always some of them do fine...but have seen lot of them will be dragging on in life with no interest. my roommate and another good friend...never worked after graduation...with their parents taking care of them till date. Malli aa pulka gaadu TV ekki educational reforms...stress free education ani lectures danchevaadu. Akkada chadivanallu chaala mandhi malla kanapadithe kottali ane range lo unde vallu. Very very few people ki maatram he is a hero. Chaitanya, Narayana or India lo any other place lo aaramse seat koote students mostly did much better during IIT and after. | ||
