Subba RamiReddy was the owner of Udayam.He was a Liquor King.Owned distilleries and distributor of Kingfisher/UB brands Udayam was anti TDP and was a thorn in flesh for TDP and Eenadu as it was attracting Eenadus readers with full color edition etc Subba Ramireddy was incurring losses,but he was managing with his profits from liquor business So,after coming to power NTR introduced prohibition (momentum was built with help of eenadu by running anti-liquor and pro-prohibition campaigns on a daily basis)/The sole aim was to hit the financial backbone of Udayam After running into losses and with no liquor revenue Subba Ramireddy gave up and closed udayam | ||

Vishwaksenaa. assalu Udayam paper vachindhee 1984 lo . Dasari was the initial owner. later he sold to Magunta Hyderabad: Many of us know that there was a powerful writer in Dasari. But he was a great journalist and would have been in the top if his paper Udayam survived till today! In 1984 when Dasari founded Udayam paper with Vijayawada as headquarters little did the media houses of the then United AP felt he could be of any competition to them. But, thanks to his pen power Udayam editorials those days were a big hit and soon a big media baron whose paper continues to claim huge circulation even to date in the state realized that Udayam cannot be taken light! But it was just then even Dasari felt he cannot multitask films and paper and took the decision of transferring rights to the then MP Magunta Subbarami Reddy! This helped the media baron. He felt that if Magunta's financial base is disturbed Udayam cannot run and kick started the 'liquor ban' movement. Magunta was a liquor man then! When the movement gained momentum NTR included it in his manifesto and Magunta's finances were crippled badly and eventually he closed off Udayam.
