nenu, HD and kids pretty much do these things. are we OK or need some reforms from liberals or SICKlars or moderates? 1) I play all kinds of songs in car and no objection from kids. Windows down usually don't do because I cannot stand that noise of air.. 2) There is always bottu on my forehead wherever I go and whenever I go. My kids have bottu at home and to any Indian functions or while going to temple. Okkosari maa second kid has bottu to school as well.. 3) Indian food as Lunch is totally accepted. Dosas, Idlies, chapatis and rice (like pulihora, veg rice etc.,) 4) BTW I am always in adda pancha when I go to Temple and traditional dhoti while helping for any events... evaranna mana color, vesham, basha, etc., ni kinDal cheste akkadikakkade tolu tiyyali ani full training ichcha... Once a kid seems commented my kid's food and my kid retorted saying "meeru anni rakala animals ni champi tintaaru, this is better than that". Anything I said earlier is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 1 day | ||

that's the downside of being an NRI  poor kids we can only imagine what they go through..they look different to begin with - eat different kind of food, worship a different kind of god, their parents talk with an accent and so on.. everything about them is different and they have no control over any of it..they are just put in that situation....the only control they may have is through little requests like this.. my personal opinion is to first fully acknowledge their concern, make them feel heard, give them a sense of control and then explain..one good way to do this may be to make them embrace their indianness - citing, without pushing, the examples of sundar pichai, satya nadella etc etc....every level lo brainwashing cheyali..veellu thine food junk etc adi easy le....only then they may intrinsically like what they're doing | ||

common issue. my kids does the same and wont take indian food for lunch to school even though his class and school has significant portion of indian origin kids. My daughter does not have problem. some kids want to completely blend in and wont handle peculiarity. we have to teach them. it takes time. | ||
