still cant think of a way to avoid Rice for my kid.. // start slow. reduce portions and add more veggies. 0 on day 1 antey kastam. as I said before I never reduced it, I try to avoid unnecessary sugars like cakes, cookies, chocs to best extent. rice always tough to avoid for my kid too. people try cauliflower rice option. Thank you brother. Consistency is the main issue. Consistent ga cheyadam kudaradam ledhu massages. My little one doesn't like when we start massaging his hands. We have to play videos to distract him. It's a challenge for us . His ABA is starting tomorrow, they will be coming to home once a week and twice a week to day care and asked them to help him out in playing with other kids and once a week to center. Have to see how he reacts. I heard some folks got benefitted using Reiki. We are planning to try that. | ||

Aba is free for me but don't do more than 15hrs a week which is split between in home and clinic. aba is mostly one on one whereas kids need interaction with typical kids to model and learn from others. are you doing speech n OT as well, if not recommend them. speech therapy will take time to show the results but very useful, key is to find good therapist. apart from that it's all about stimulating the kid with experiences carefully. typical kids can manage lot of different experiences but put kids learn them 1-2 at a time but they will not forget once they learn. so very important to expose them to good experiencesn right behavior from the beginning since it's super sticky for them. for that to happen you n your spouse need to be on the same page all ( err most of) the time. this advice applies to anyone but for us the implications are severe. you might think they are not paying attention but they do n use it later, so just keep talkibg out loud everything you do in house n he will pick words n eventually use them. good luck | ||

i do agree with kalyan, your kid is out of spectrum but adhd undochu..he will over come this too.. edo 3 factor formula undi, if they lack in all those 3 than they treat that as a autism.. my kid knows lot many words, unless he motivated he don't use those words.. he sings and dances to some of the rhymes he like..1 to 100, a to z mastered..singing and dancing..no repetitive behavior.. the reason i am saying all these syptoms are because you and the urimi are the one who started educating in DB, right on time when my kid has 16 months we started working towards the developmental delays..with insurance problems and other issues finally 5 months back we get to started with ABA. i wanted to make him improve in communication and use words most often.. if he exited he will use communication, he like ducks, other day i took him to pond, he was chasing them saying quack quack..i see duck, i see sun,i see pond ani chepthadu..we went to •••,but he didn't show any interest ,but he is looking at elephants and other animals.. some times he is asking which video he wants by singing couple of words..he asks food by saying ice cream,cookie,apple..but he is on diet, completely avoiding carbs and sugars..that is for now.. anything else to improve his communication? We did everything Kalyan suggested n ours improved. cars rating 31 vachindhi at 27 months, so borderline lo unnadu annaru, he didn’t have speech then but was showing signs. I felt surprised when dr. Kalyan said our son is not in spectrum. But he is arriving at that more from him having speech and showing improvement. Ok. Mito markers konni unnayi blood test lo like low carnitine. Ideally for Cfd lumbar puncture cheyyali but our maps suggested some alternate test. Sad thing with many of these are that tests are never conclusive and doctors have a set pattern.thats what rossignol does, he has same set of test and recommendations irrespective of anything. @ help - glad that the kid recovered so much. Just keep doing what you are doing and he will catch up. My kid is 5 yrs now and in this year check up dr. Kalyan Chakravarthy said he is out spectrum but in ADHD mode, which I don’t fully buy. He still shows lot of spectrum behavior but much improved. He asked us to restart massages again since mine jumps a lot. We did that for only 9 month when initially dismissed at 2.5yrs..one thing we decided wa to treat him strictly as normal kid to shape his behavior since he has started to play us with konte chupulu and panulu. | ||

yes take it easy, people have no idea and others problems always look small. so few questions on your post 1) lyme/bartonella testing is def in my list. many say PANS like symtoms are triggered by this. thankfully EEG is clean 2) viral panel/endocrines antey exact emi chesaru. we spent so much with 2 MAPS on just blood tests. every time I meet him (Dr Rossignol in FL) he says viral panel not that helpful ani. 3) homeopath is in india? we are looking for someone locally here. I think it will help in allergies and infections and probably detoxing. are you doing CEASE/classical or now. maa current docs has suggested folinic, mb12, fish oils, essential 4 (we are 40 rounds in acc). its like 1 step fwd and 2 back but think time to tap one more who is expert on bacterial/viral issues in kids. also are you starting RPM.. may be need at least 7 yrs age. but everyone I talked to literally swears by it. | ||

I will post my thoughts on how it goes with this. at this point my son, likes playing with kids, but only outdoor games where there is minimal vocal communication. he has little interest/confidence that involves interaction.// my 5 yr kid has minimum social interaction. I think he is happy to be around kids, but is extremely anxious to interact. I do not know how to break this cycle.. as many said even india did not help us that much as he is way too anxious socially.. Brother can you please let me know how you got the heavy metal panels, saliva test and other tests done. My son is close to 3 and he is diagnosed with Autism .. We asked Pediatrician and developmental physician to order gut testing and they said that its not needed as Autism is not related to it..I am not sure what they are going to say if we ask for these tests We have his Thyroid test and genetic testing done and just waiting for those results.His ABA will start next week. Just like not all normal kids do not grow the same, not all autistic kids grow up the same way, and the same things will not help all the kids. As a parent, we try different things, that other things are trying, and some might work for us and might not. @Help vunkl - if you are looking for comm skills, this i feel works for kids who are struggling with group dynamics, although its not always easy to do. 1) small group activities - groups less than 5 kids for outdoor activities, and less than three kids for indoor activities. playing the same thing often, with small changes. challenge with group skills - kids will keep trying to play differently every time, but for kids who are struggling with communication, its a tough ask. they cannot go back and forth as easily, and by the time they make up their mind to say something, the moment would have passed. if this happens too often, they simply lose interest in group play. It is the most challenging thing i have experienced so far. Story telling - i think your kid is too young for this, but if the kid can learn the ability to tell a story, he will be able to make other kids listen to him. I have not tried this yet, but will try this out, as I got this idea very recently. I feel this gives the kid with three advantages 1) ability to formulate his thoughts in to words, and he will get time to do that because its his turn of story telling. 2) the confidence to be in the group, because other kids are listening while he is speaking and not asking questions - when other kids pose a question, kids with delayed communication, typically take time to register the question and respond... which makes the communication fallout. 3) add a purpose to the group play. typically what i have observed is, kids with communication delays, have a different idea of the play. they do not see interaction as a part of the play and see it as a distraction during group play. this may not be true for everyone, but this is what i have seen with my son. I will post my thoughts on how it goes with this. at this point my son, likes playing with kids, but only outdoor games where there is minimal vocal communication. he has little interest/confidence that involves interaction. | ||

how does it matter even if its a false diagnosis. you pretty much still have to teach and work with him, take a safer route and assume he has the diagnosis. keep doing what you are doing. don't judge the diagnosis. actually 2.5 ki you could over diagnose or under diagnose too, its a fine line. the gaps increase or decrease with time, so all you do is keep working keep doing lot of play and work with him whenever you have time and energy. before all supplements and tests, this is what works the best. make a connection with him. they can have a much better life than what it shows in first 5 years of their life. also understand there will be regressions all the time. kids on spectrum learn in a different way, they learn in chunks its not linear like NT kids. they might learn in a phase and then regress and then pick again.. its frustrating more so as they cannot communicate in normal ways... reg pointers needed, just work with your maps, these online forums I suggest are best used for schools, therapy recommendations, venting and other supports. medically no one can suggest as each child is different. reg therapy you should be ready to try options like RDI, play based, floor time etc etc. some kids ki ABA is too rote but since he is young try working on sitting tolerance, task attention for now but have an open mind about other things.. and last but not least, keep teaching things even if he does not show back they still absorb many things. | ||

Most desi kids fall in Autism spectrum, mainly due to lack of interaction. For the same reason, we moved into an apartment renting out our house where there were lot of desi kids. It helped big time for my elder one to grow out of the spectrum. Aa reports chusthunte kallalo blood vachedi. Next was having grand parents at home till the kid goes to KG. 3rd option is having a sibling who is not too out of age to play for the Autism kid. | ||

I have been following this DB since long time..thought of posting since long time,finally created ID here is the situation with my kid at 18 months my son diagnosed with autism.. since than DB was helpful gathering info and did my research now he is in ABA 5 days a week ,8hrs a day we are visiting DAN docs, she is very helpful ..giving him some naturopathic medicine, so far i have seen lot of gains and improvements.. pretty much like a normal kid, eye contact, speech improved a lot. he knows almost 200 words. some sentences..etc..now he is 30 months done blood test,heavy metal panels,saliva test, and other test..all are normal accept east over growth, yeast aid use chesamu, now that is also normal so my question is i wanted to make sure i am not missing anything before it is too late for his development. any suggesions? any directions is appriciated DB rocks |
