Since it's kind of free advice thread... If you are 35 plus with two kids and lived quality life with some savings in US then Canada is NOT FOR YOU. One should be very lucky to have things placed in to move. My cousin recently moved in his late 30s and he is lucky. Otherwise with no proper IT jobs (read as good pay if not high), high taxes, not so friendly housing (even rentals) will make life depressing though it won't make much difference to kids. I applied for Canada PR almost 16 years back when I was in early 30s as backup and got PR. Did a French course for three months which added few points etc., things. Ultimately decided NOT to go as I got my EAD then. Otherwise I would have tried may be (not sure). One of my close friend's wife when she appeared for Canadian Citizenship interview she got denied with a reason that you will move back to US since you have roots there (my friend was in US working). So think twice before investing money and time. all the best Anything I said earlier is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 1 day | ||

Once you get PR,they will give time ( 1 to 3 mnths) to land in canada to complete formalities Once you land and become Permament Resident,you need to stay 770 days in period of 5 years ,to maintain your PR status/Renew PR.So you will have 2 years to decide to move or not to move to Canada | ||

Best thing about being PR of CANADA is it’s free healthcare...ofcourse taxes r high n the opportunities r very less compared to USA If u can find a good stable job in CANADA..nothing like that... Having lived many years in US and Canada (Still live 30% of time in US).I can say If you want to earn money (and lots of )>>USA us best If you want peaceful life>> Canada is Good (sort of ) IT Jobs:Not hard to get,but you have less choices and options From last pay has comedown drastically after the entry of desi companies who prefer to bring slaves from India on Work Permit. Don't get scared about weather,cos it is just like any other north and northeast cities of USA .3 months in winter are cold and chilly(90% of Canadian population lives less than 70 miles of US border and regions northern part of Canada are coldest) Canada has high Income tax and sales taxes.If you are saving $100 in US ,you will not save more than $40 in Canada Canada is has a much smaller economy and much less opportunities compared to US | ||

you need to land in canada with in year after getting the pr I guess , you need to show that you will be in cananda for 2 years atleast out of 5 years , but these are old rules , not sure if they have changed I spent money in applying and writing tofel etc and time in preparing etc, in the end I did not go as I don't want to start from zero and also not enough funds to buy a house and not ready for initial struggle - | ||
