already happening..anduke red states and republican state govts are seeing teacher strikes.... tax cuts ani cheppi revenue boxxa ettukuntunnaru and thats seen on education...oklahoma kentucky west virginia arizona everywhere teacher strikes because the pay is so low and many schools teachers have to buy supplies for students because no funding... many people are not getting the fact that a high school education was sufficient to get a job..now you need more to get a liveable income.... | ||

yeah it affects a lot especially for state universities ( like my current employer)....considering that higher education funding is being cut down in many states...foreign students pay 2-3 times the in-state fee and most of our students are in-state and having foreign/out of state fee paying students is great for our budget... and if you are talking about grad students doing research/teaching then the loss is even more to univ/dept...many professors are dependent on research students for continuing their work...and not having any body to work on a project is a colossal waste of their resources | ||

lot of universities work thru this model.... Foreign students paying tuition keeps many departments in good shape....we all think about desi Grad students but many universities have tons of under grads from china....case in point a university where i work..we are in some financial trouble because of budget cuts from the state government...the president of the university openly stated that they lost quite a bit of revenue because of drop in foreign student enrollment.... Coming to the point that Americans can get admissions is not the issue...the issue is expenses for under grad and grad schooling are out of reach for a majority of american families....my old grad school has fees in excess of 50,000$ per year for under grad.... losing foreign students puts a lot of strain on teaching schedules for labs in many universities... its the grad students who do the grunt work.. | ||
