I don't think he destroyed banks, recently I was in india, people are still using banks and depositing money into banks. as long as you can show the source of money and pay taxes you can deposit as much as you want. People are afraid of depositing large amounts due to IT raids. Otherwise it is same as before. Banks interests gone down, so people are finding other avenues to get the interest. I see that now more people are loaning/barrowing money from other people at Rs 1.5 or Rs 2 interest by writing some kind of agreements, in some cases putting land/house/gold as poochi kathu. I see that now people are investing more money into lands as they think that it is safer avenue and does not have to worry about taxes and losing money if someone barrows it and does not repay.
