First job India lo WITCH company chose Mainframes and VB for me after Training period ended. Something struck me that my career will be buried if I follow that. Non-CS background kada, C, CPP ki move avvatam koodaa impossible and I did not see a lot of pull in that industry. Then I chose Java personally. Learnt Java, cleared 3 Sun Microsystems Certifications - SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD. H1-B Transfered from WITCH to Consulting, 4 years struggle-struggle-some more struggle. Web Technologies like JSP, Servlets, Tag-libraries, Struts, Spring, Hibernate etc etc, 365 days lo saringaa 30 days at stretch work vunte, chesthey ekkuva. Lack of exciting work, losing excitement, motivation. Hourly Billing is just Hourly Billing. Personal life ayithe abbovv, daani route ye separate. Professional and Personal Life dog-frock!!! Come 2011, between jobs, looking for Contract Opportunities. Nice white-man gave offer as Contractor, thus Android Mobile chose me. New and upcoming, plenty to learn, somehow I will settle anukuni tooked. 2016 varaku some ups, some downs, everything OK. Come 2016, Life is dogs-torn-plantain. No GC, No marriage, No kids, No High Billing Rates, No Long-term Contracting Projects for High Bill Rates, No FTE, No Retirement Pension Plans, No Investments, No Own House, No Properties in India, No Nothing at all. Bench for past 10 work days. Skills leka kaadu, but Limitations are more. Are you Hands-On Programmer, then we have excellent project that'll require you to churn out billiions of lines of program-code by 8:00 AM tomorrow. This is practically the notion I am seeing everywhere for Mobile Development, and my biggest weakness is Time. I am not super-fast, hell I am slower than most Programmers for regular work itself, but I think much of my work is bug-free that I am finding it hard to sell the idea in the first-place. Have to move to People Management, at this point in career, but nobody is willing to even listen and offer one. Recently went for FTE In-Person with one of the Top Tier-1 Tech Companies in SFO. The Interview was Mobile Coding challenge on Android Studio IDE on macbook. Hell, all the stakes were stacked against me. IDE version was old, some features did not work. Auto-Import, Auto-Styling like indentation etc. Had to type everything manually, literally like IDE was nothing more than Notepad. Worst lo worst, build failed before I began writing any code. Luckily, I knew I had to manually delete and clean the build folders. I was supposedly not to use any libraries like Dagger2 and GSON. The sample project I had to work on required some complex JSON Parsing, if I do the traditional way, my 1 hr will go into that itself. I asked Interviewer if it was OK to use GSON, he said it's OK. Then, after some time of coding, my stomach growled, and I had to take a quick break to the loo. Back to the interview, completed hands-on coding, compiled, executed on Android emulator, and voila, single-shot, got expected output, except 1 small style problem, immediately fixed that and done. Reasons I was rejected - I used Third-Party library, and Interview round exceeded into the 15 minute break after the round, so technically, timeliness failure. •••••• old IDE, complex JSON parsing, mild stomach-bug problem, none of these will be pardoned. IDE is my biggest injustice. What should I do so I wake up Monday morning, and don't have to perform any Hands-On coding anymore?
