San Juan 00907 Puerto Rico - 787-721-7500 - Hyatt House San Juan - 615 Ave Fernandez Juncos Distrito de Convenciones, San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA, 00907 - 787 977 5000 Old San Juan and the historical sites are beautiful. Heck, even La Perla was a neat site to see - from a distance. Kayaking: kayak in bioluminescent bay , besides Bio Bay, there are other kayak tours. (BTW, there are 3 bioluminescent water sites in Puerto Rico, make sure to see one if moon allows) Ziplining: zip lines in Puerto Rico Porta Coeli one of the oldest churches in Western Hemisphere If take a break from the sun or raining out, the Museo de Arte in Ponce is worth a look. Puerto Rico's roast pork highway One of the best beaches in all of Puerto Rico is Luquillo just don't go on weekends or a holiday when it will be packed with locals. Luquillo is an old coconut plantation, there's been times where I'm standing in the water, sun on my back, sipping on a cocos frios, looking back at a cloud shrouded El Yunque. Looks like a scene from Bora Bora. A plus about Luquillo is there is a strip of food stalls (some very plain basic & others full restaurants). Some excellent food can be had. One of the finest (if not the best) beachfront resort & dining room is The Horned Dorset Primavera. You can still dine at resort if not a guest. we stayed in Luquillo one trip and there are some good places to eat at the kiosks (Ay Bonito and El Jefe were our favorites). There is also a really good and super cheap bakery called La Familia a few miles away. Definitely check out El Yunque and hike down to the La Mina waterfall. I did two zipline trips with Batey zipline adventures. If you have the time and are not terrified of heights, the extended tour with the kayaking and rappelling is worth the extra money. We tried to go to Rio Camuy caves after ziplining but they were closing as we pulled in so verify their operating hours before making the trek out there. The mini boat snorkling trip was pretty cool. Lots of jellies were out the day we were, but the guides were able to find some good altnative locations for us. The bio bay kayak tour was slightly underwhelming because you kayak forever though the mangroves only to spend about 10 mins in the big open area with the cool glowing stuff. Plus you need good communication with your kayak partner so you don't crash into other kayakers (or the trees). 1) 1 full day doing El Yunque, Luquillo Beach and Bio Bay in Fajardo. Like someone mentioned above the glow is almost gone. We had to wade our hands in the water to see the bio luminescent spark. The kayak oars in the mangrove wading through the water also gave the spark. 2) Full day of Arecibo observatory and 3 caves ( Rio Camuy, The Cave near the ocean and Le Ventana (window) )....all 3 are highly recommended. 3) day tripping to PONCE in the south. Rented Hertz for a day but they did not have the car so they chauffeured us back and forth. 4) The other 3 full days we were just walking around OSJ which is worth it and included our trips in the trolley and the 2 forts(El Morro and Cristobal). Beaches: We visited Caracas (Red), Sun Bay, Media Luna, Navio, Secret, and Green Beaches. Blue Beach was unfortunately closed for the summer. We liked Caracas the best for its wide expanse of clean sand and easy accessibility. Sun Bay was also nice and is the only "developed" beach with restrooms and a food concession. Food: Delicious! From the yummy and trendy Coqui Fire to casual eateries on the Malecon like Bili's (huge, delicious gourmet burgers and creative salads at lunch), Trade Winds and Duffy's to roadside restaurants like El Resuelve to upscale dining at El Quenepo, we enjoyed every bite we ate on the island. If you stop in San Juan, I'd highly recommend Marmalade as well. Condado Beach is near the La Concha Resort. Isla Verde Beach is near the Airport - so can visit if time available on day of return Day - 1 Old San Juan Map - https://goo.gl/maps/KLTzwFCfiKy Once checked in at the Hotel, ask for the easiest way to go to Old San Juan. Also ask them what are the best to cover in that few hrs we have remaining. There is a bus stop outside of the hotel to go into Old San Juan. Ask for a higher Floor, ocean view room if available. Just go around the Hotel, and see the Condado beach back of the Hotel. Then take the bus to Old SanJuan. If possible go directly to Casa Cortes ChocoBar(210 Calle San Francisco,San Juan 00901 - 787-722-0499) and eat. Walk over to Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Calle Norzagaray, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico. This is a Fort. Walk over to Paseo de la Princesa, San Juan. Live Music, Visit San Juan gate and Fountain. Radioville, Arecibo 00612, Puerto Rico And then go around depending on time and then come back to San Juan. Darla, Whenever you have a few minutes, can you please help me with the below questions, no hurry at all. Want to make sure we plan everything good . 1. We will be staying in SanJuan on 3rd Night. We will have a Alamo rental car with us, after reading online forums, I came to a decision that I can park my car overnight in Ceiba airport, and fly to Vieques and back to Ceiba. Do you see any issue with that? 2. Since it takes around 1:30min to drive from San Juan to Ceiba airport, planning on taking the 8:30-9:00 AM flight from Ceiba. 3. Once we arrive in Vieques airport, and since it is possible for you to pick us up, we are interested in renting a Scooter, rather than car. What do you suggest? we want to go around the island until evening, and then go for the BioBay tour(Already reserved it for 4th Night). 4. Then come back, and rest, and wake up in the morning, and then take flight(between 8-9 AM) back to Ceiba, and then visit the El Yunque for sometime. What do you think about this, will there be sufficient time Darla? Really appreciate in advance for your help. ThankYou. Things to Take: 1. toilet paper / wipes and hand sanitiser 2. DET Free Insect Repellent 3. Umbrellas/Ponchos 4. Dollar notes, and coins also 5. Buy water Case there. 6. Flash Light El Yunque in Detail: 2 Options- Driving East on RT 3, you will see a sign for the rainforest for RT 191. You can turn on this small road which will take you right to RT 191. OR Driving East on Rt 3, you are looking for an Intersection with Rt 955. There will be a large sign for the Rio Mar Beach Resort at the light. Turn right at this light. The roads curves right. On the right is a really nice art/artisan gift shop “Coqui International”. They hand-make soaps and candles too. You can check it. Almost right next to thi (right before it) you will pass a Bakery or Panaderia, where you can pick up sandwiches for a picnic. Up a ways on the left there is another neat store – “Caribbean Trading Company”. Lots of cute local crafts and Caribbean inspired things. Continue a tiny bit more on this road- at the stop sign, turn left onto Rt 191. You will follow this road up the mountain. There is a gift shop on the right with some good bargains on souvenirs. Across the way on the left is a little river that people play in if the desire hits . There also is a little restaurant (La Pozo) that has Lechon Asado (roast pork- pig on a spit) on Sat/Sun/Holidays. If you have not had the chance to try it, get some for lunch or dinner. It is delicious! Up a little more on the left is a restaurant “Dagao” that features PR food. It is open for lunch and dinners most days. Continue along Rt 191, up, up ,up! You will soon get to the El Portal Visitors Center at Km 4.3. It is an educational center with lots of exhibits on rain forests and conservation. There is a short movie describing the rain forest and its importance to the ecosystem. It alternates English and Spanish. The visitors center is landscaped with all sorts of tropical plants and flowers. continue going up. At about Km 7.1 you will pass a gift shop and food stop on the left side – park carefully. Up at the next curve (Km 7.4) on the right is another gift shop and little roadside restaurant “La Muralla”. There you can get a decent meal and a delicious Pina Colada! Or try a Coco Frio, which is a cold coconut cut open so you an drink the coconut water. Continue going up. Yes, the road is winding, so be careful of the curves and slow moving traffic. Also at some places, the edges of the road are just gullies – so keep your tires out of them! At Km 8.1 you will come to the La Coca falls on the right. The falls can be seen from the road – park the car, get out and take pictures. A small gift shop is here. When you are done there, continue up to Km 8.9 to the Yokahu Observation Tower. Park and go in. It is well worth the climb – the views are beautiful! Another small gift shop here and a bathroom. Closes at about 4:30pm. There are trail heads for La Coca Trail at Km 8.6, Juan Diego at km 9.5, and Big tree trail at Km 10.4. About Km 11.6 you will see the Sierra Palms Recreation area. Here you will find a food stand (Yuquiyu has yummy food) , restrooms and a picnic area. Continue to the Palo Colorado Visitor Center at Km 11.8. |

You will have to drive to Fajardo vieques is prettier than mainland PR anyway. If I were you, I will stay minimum 2 nights in vieques and 2 in culebra.
