Supreme court works in an ad-hoc way. For example, they did not hear jalli activists immediately but when the petitions(PETA and others) veellaki immediate hearings coz they got a Congress politician as a lawyer. In the current case, the arguments closed long time ago and the judges are sitting on it. This is a standard technique being used by our SC judges. Delay delay. Just to give you another hot issue case, Tamilnadu 69% reservation case is pending in SC for 23 years, still no judgement. (The case is TN has 69% while the rest of the states have a cap at 50%) | ||

there are two issues wit this 1) jalli bulls are treated well and they are not killed. It is humans at risk in this sport. 2) what is 'humane treatment' and who gets to define it? When Supreme court refuses to entertain petitions related to slaughter in bakrid, people are seeing the lack of principles. | ||

My concern is Supreme court bending before Tamil people protests. I don't care whether Jallikattu is part of Tamil culture or not. Either Supreme court should have done enough research before banning Jallikattu or if the court thinks that Jallikattu is a violent sport they should stick to their stand. Why are they bending before Tamil people? Tomorrow some other big state will protest peacefully. Would the Supreme court bend before them? | ||

For the first time I second your opinion on Jallikattu. I don't know much about Jallikattu sport. But it's silly that the whole state (especially students) came out and protested against Jallikattu ban. Do these same people have balls to come and protest against Shashikala if and when she becomes TN chief minister. Why didn't these people protest when shashikala was made the party secretary. Don't they have better leaders in the state than that old man Karunanidhi and Shashikala? It's a disgrace for the state. Tomorrow some other state will come on streets to protest against Supreme court's judgement. Will the Supreme court bend their back before these protesters? Where is this nation heading towards? |
