For everyone sympathizing with the common man, let me as a banker give out the policies that were formulated by the govts. and also that were followed by the Nationalized banks in the country from the early 2008. 1.Many a nationalized banks like SBI and others have been providing free Current accounts with zero minimum balance for routing transactions through POS(Swipe Machines). As part of banking industry many people like me met and had conversations with local Kirana and other merchants in Villages,towns and cities. Only a few shown interest because they were sure that regular banking transactions would get them financial assistance from banks when they needed credit for working capital and the others didn't because they don't want to come under tax bracket. 2. The Govts. over the past 5 years had made enough contributions through banks for opening of basic small saving account across the country for people belonging low income group, which provides a free ATM that would allow them to withdraw an amount of Rs.10000/day and rs. Rs. 20000 through POS. 3 .The same people have thronged to the banks to open Jandhan Accounts when PM Modi announced it, only because of rumours that spread like wildfire which stated that every account will be deposited an amount of Rs.5000, which in banking parlance was an OD for people using these accounts for savings and performing daily transactions. Those who made use of it have been enjoying the OD according to their Average Quarterly Balance in their accounts. Lastly, I want to make clear a point that no common man wanted banking platform for their savings but only rushed to banks when they needed loans out of which most in the rural areas have turned NPAs. This demonetization also had a great effect as people in the past few days thronging to banks to clear off their debts and renew their crop loans so can they turn all their hoarded money accountable. | ||
