India cited Pakistan's involvement in the September 18 terrorist attack at an Army camp in Uri town of Kashmir, in which 19 soldiers died, as the reason for its decision to boycott the summit. American interests of today are just an extension of the same interests of colonial Anglo-Saxon Britain of the past era. The modus operandi changed a little. Globalization (Modern technology and finance) made it possible to have virtual colonies all around the world without physical presence. The roots of Pakistan's birth were in the divide and rule policy of UK and they did that for the sake of power. Post ww-2, the power transferred to US and after the end of cold war, US consolidated that power. Most presidents of US, except (may be) JFK, after WW-2 have worked towards consolidating this power. The only president who seems to have changed the path is GWBush. And if not for 09112001 I doubt if he would have done that, not that he has some special interest on India. As Indians, wherever we are, and even after taking up some other passport, should still keep in mind the interests of India. I am not asking anyone to be "disloyal" to their country. I am only saying we can strengthen India's bonds with that particular country. All migrants from all around the world do this. And more so since you guys have OCI cards - Overseas Citizen of India, more reasons you do it. And one last thing is, if America has to be a super power and lead the world for years to come, it has to stand with the right countries and right reasons and fight the rogue nations. My general feeling is (since I cannot furnish proofs for all claims), american govts from 1947 have been by and large anti to Indian interests, with the exception of Eiserhower and JFK.
