taxes are collected by govt for maintaining security framework, facilities and so on people pay taxes for that framework and jobs. Corporations also do should pay for security. Problem is that corporations are highly profitable in entire recorded history, but they aren't paying taxes as such. they manipulate tax law and pay peanuts. govt is still big, and they squeeze individuals instead of going after corporations, because lobbyists. this isn't a republican/dem thing, both parties do this.
