An interaction session was also held at the Consulate General of India in Dubai in this regard. Abhishek Mishra, Minister for Vocational Education and Skill Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, apprised the employers about several measures taken by the government to organise the skilled manpower sector. Earlier talking to The Gulf Today, he said that the state government has decided to set up 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state to train unemployed youth. So far 86 ITIs have become operational, while number of seats has been doubled in several others. He expressed confidence that by the end of 2016, the government would be able to supply over 18,000 skilled blue-collar workers. The minister said that during the past three years about 800,000 blue collar workers migrated to various countries in the Middle East in search of jobs. At least 25 per cent, or 200,000, of them were from his state. Mishra said, âUttar Pradesh is the largest state in India with maximum number of youth ready for employment. But the government realised that this is the biggest unorganised sector. Thus a dedicated Non-Resident Indians (NRI) department has been created by the government and a Migration Resource Centre has been set up to organise this sector.â âWe are here to meet the potential employers, know their requirements, and fill the gap accordingly. We will even request them to send their experts to assess our facilities and guide us to meet their expectations,â he added. Naini Narasimha Reddy, Minister for Home and Labour, Government of Telangana, who led another delegation, was equally concerned about the safety and success of blue-collar workers from his state. He said that the state government has created a Telangana Overseas Manpower Company, to train youngsters according to the job market requirements and ensure their safe migration to labour importing countries. âWe have set up the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company to save our youths from unscrupulous recruitment agents.
