The movie gained a lot of buzz when Sharwanand joined hands with director Merlapaka Gandhi and UV Creations. Let’s now see how the film turned out to be. Story:- Raja(Sharwanad) is the reckless son of an honest father who does a lot of social service. Along with his cousin Seenu (Prabhas Seenu), he spends his days drinking and causing trouble despite being insulted by his father numerous times. One fine day, Raja spots Ammu(Surabhi) and falls head over heels for her. He even kidnaps a small puppy to impress her. Post this kidnapping, hell breaks loose as different characters start entering the plot and cause even more confusion in the proceedings. Who are these characters ? How are they connected to each other ? and What happens to Raja’s love story at the end ? That forms the rest of the story. Plus Points:- The hero of this story is definitely the way in which all the characters are interwoven with each other and their comic timing. The entire cast and their roles are not just utilized to the core but are also from the crux of the movie. Sharwaanand is in his usual best and effortlessly slips into his character of a reckless guy who falls in love. Surbhi looks beautiful and showcases good acting skills. Urvasi is seen here after Size Zero and is one of the major entertainers during the second half. All her comic scenes are hilarious. Sapthagiri and Seenu have competed against each other in delivering punch lines and giggles one after the other. Supreet also is refreshingly seen delivering a comedy oriented performance and that too with some good dialogue delivery. While the first half of the movie moves at a decent pace with minor twists and turns up until the interval, just before the break, the plot takes a bigger turn.The entire second half of the movie is filled with a lot of suspense and takes a new turn with every scene. Minus Points:- While the movie is definitely an entertainer, logically there are a few loopholes in the plot. Although the sub plots are all woven in a fantastic way the main theme of the film seems vague. The quest for all the things that are happening seems a little unrealistic. The love story between Shrawanad and Surbhi is a little short and the latter does not have much screen time to showcase her abilities. Technical Aspects:- Merlapaka Gandhi’s direction is very good with respect to handling the numerous characters of the movie in a deft way. His story telling style is neat as he does not waste the much screen time for any of his characters. UV creations which is known for its production values is back with a decent craft this time. Praveen Lakkaraju’s tunes are catchy and the picturization of the songs is quite quirky. Verdict:- On the whole Express Raja is a thorough entertainer sprinkled with loads of laughter. The comic timing of the actors and their performance is the major highlight of the film. On the flip side, there in not much logic and also the love story between the main leads is a bit disappointing. Co-starring Surabhi in the female lead, the movie is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and produced by Vamsi, Pramod on UV Creations banner. Music is composed by Praveen Lakkaraju. Story: Raja (Sharwanand) hails from Vizag and is sent to Hyderabad in search of a job. Raja hates dogs. He lives in a colony in Hyderabad where he comes across a beautiful girl called Amulya (Surabhi) and tries to woo her. On the other hand he complaints about dogs in the colony and handsover all of them to the municipality. However, one dog among them is that of Surabhi. A major twist arises in the story which leads to series of hilariously picturised events. Watch the movie on the silver screen to know more. Positive Points: Sharwanand’s comic timing and acting talent was already proved in his earlier movies. Run Raja Run introduced the funnier side of him to the audience. The main asset for Express Raja is entertainment which is much required at this point of time. Saptagiri, Prabhas Seenu did an excellent job in Express Raja. UV Creations is known for making films with great productional values and Express Raja is no exception. This movie too looked rich like all other films on their banner. Praveen Lakkaraju’s music was already declared a hit. The songs are catchy and funky and will be among the party numbers that boost up your mood. Karthik Ghattamaneni’s cinematography also requires a special mention. Negative Points: There is no much content in the film. Don’t search for story as it is wooven on a small story line but the output came out really well. Verdict: On the whole, the movie is a complete entertainer and is a strong contender for Sankranthi. By OM `Express Raja` is a Largely Enjoyable Comedy Ride with a dash of Romance & Crime. Story : An aimless wanderer Raja (Sharwanand) and his Friend (Prabhas Seenu) land in Hyderabad. Raja falls for a girl (Surbhi) and finally when things are about to get positive, the latter`s Pup Dog spoils the party. Now Raja has to find and bring the Pup back but there lies the twist in the tale and multiple interlinked threads!. Performances: Sharwanand did a Fabulous Job and is especially great with his comedy timing!. Surbhi is more than adequate. Prabhas Seenu plays important role and is good. Saptagiri in a full length role is a laugh riot. Shakalaka Shankar is Damn good. Supreet, Harish, Urvasi and etc are adequate. Technical Departments: Music: Praveen Lakkaraju`s tunes are good, and songs are shot well. Cinematography: Adequate. Editing: Good. Action: Adequate. Analysis : `Express Raja` is largely predictable but still mostly entertaining!. It is the well-knit Screen-play which makes the film going and works in its favor. The 1st half is cool and is okay. The 2nd half is a laugh riot with comedy completely taking over. On the flip side, romantic track could have been better but it has only limited scope. There is never a dull moment in this comedy which makes it an easy one time watch for common audience although it is laced with lot of cliches. Production values are also a plus. Watch It!. Plus: 1. We can even organize a 'Demerit' hunt to find one. Analysis: Director Melapaka Gandhi presses the accelerator of this express film vehicle from the word go. He presses it even hard with every passing scene as more twits and more characters make inroads into the narrative. All this amid throwing truckloads of comedy. The film's structure looks complex for a while and the way Gandhi simplifies every bit by keeping the pace under control calls for a thunderous applause. A multiple flashback mode is like a double-edged sword and the director handled it quite well. As the film inches towards the interval you predict something to unfold in the later half. However, the director keeps his cards close to the chest and turns one at the interval to bowl you over. And towards the end the interspersing emotions makes our day with a proper culmination. Then the final card is out with a near perfect resolution and, of course, the much needed twist to the tale. Others: The supporting cast of Posani, Brahmaji, Kadambari and Nagineedu appear for brief time but make their mark in the film. The camera work is classy and welcoming. The minimalistic production values are apt and the canvas looks more colorful in song and dance sequences. Verdict: Express Raja comes at the right time and can take your festivities to another level.
