Better to get an OCI even if the kid is below 15yrs...as OCI is the latest adn you need to get it sometime or another. SO why not get it now when you can get it for free. Under 15yrs kids vunna...after 2016 March OCI will cost >$210 (appati conditions yem edatharo telvad..manollu yemanna adagocchu yeppudayina)..if you convert PIO to OCI today, even if you have to renew it 2-3 times it is only $40 for renewal each time (as per today's fee) so money wise chusukunna it is better to get OCI and in the future renewal may be a lot easier than getting a new one (hassle wise..as more time lapsed might lead to moe paperwork needed to be submited). there is no mandatory requirement yet, if you want to convert to OCI for free, March 2016 is deadline, after that there is a charge of 210$ or something. I would say dont convert to OCI if your kids are aged below 15. You will need to get it done every 5 years when passport is renewed. Travel with visitor visa if PIO card is invalid, which is not right now, so you should be fine as PIO is still valid right now. Brucelee- Audio review | ||

You need to be lucky if things work out in time with Indian embassy. People whoever applied for OCI got a call from consulate to send originals 3-4 months after the initial application is sent. Then once you send originals, it takes one good month to get OCI. You have to do OCI when you are not planning travel for atleast 6 months to be on safe side. Also dont send originials if you have a travel coming up. Now you get visa on arrival if you apply 2 weeks before travel which is good for your travel to India. Yes. If stay is 30 days than visa on arrival is enough (almost zero paperwork compared to OCI). For more than 30 days stay (upto 6 months) there is a visa category (forgot the name, ckgs people will guide you) which has similar paperwork like oci but processing time is few weeks only. Hello... Evaranna recent ga OCI card kosam apply chesara? enni rojulu pattindi? Nenu kid ki apply chesi 2 months datindi. I contacted Delhi embassy since the last known update was that the application is sent to Delhi for further scrutiny. I got reply back from Delhi consulate officer that they dint even receive the application from Washington embassy. He asked me to contact Washington embassy and get the process expedited. I called Washington embassy multiple times and no one picks up the phone. Evarikanna ilanti experience ayyinda? Ippudu naa options enti. I have India travel in a month. Thanks in advance..
