It depends on the situations in each person's life and the relative phase of life one is in. The wisdom and openness one gains by visiting/living outside the native place is priceless, but, if good lifestyle is the key, India is not too far behind. It is tough life for a low income group in any country. But, if you are in the good earning category of 40-50k or more per month, life is not that bad in India too. If you are a bachelor, you will probably find US more attractive. If you are a couple with no kids yet, US will be super good because of the less social pressure/norms from family/relatives/neighbours. If you have kids, the support system in India is far better than the setup in the US - mainly because of parents, in-laws and affordable cooks, maids and nannies. If you have ailing parents, it is a blessing if you could afford to be there physically with them during difficult times. For common people working in private industries, the impact of corruption is less in day to day stuff. Unless you run a business that deals heavily with govt offices, you can make do with online facilities now-a-days. Only serious drawback that I see living in India is the lack of proper infrastructure - for example, roads in Bangalore. It can make your life hell and make you want to get out of the city at the earliest opportunity. But, other cities like Chennai, Hyd, Delhi seem to manage this problem better than Bangalore, so, the city you live also matters. | ||
