Gurgaon lo thakkuva...round urad dal are available easily with the black husk/ layer or whatever that is, but the whole white ones on-off untayi Spencers lo. I have to go South Indian stores for that. Urad Dal Sabut antaru for the white ones and Urad Dal Chila for the split ones. That is the local terminology | ||

But here's my scientific hypothesis ( not corroborated by anyone  ) on the difference - gundu pappu still has the germ - and soaking can start germination process - when ground it will be with the sprout Split dal loses the germ and won't have a sprout... One philosophical doubt, ikkada intlo ladies nannu baga manhandle chesthonnaru...what is the difference between minapa gundlu and split...wet grinder lo vesina 2 minutes lo minapa gundlu split avuthayi kadha..why the insistence on using minapa gundlu for dosas, garelu etc etc..theda enti...intlo amma ni, HD ni split try cheyamante, sasemira antaru, theda entante chepparu..
