I did for my daughter few years ago. NYC lo Indian Embassy ki morning velli old and new passport, PIO card drop chesa. Vallu PIO card lo kottha passport details update chesaru. Evening intiki velletappudu pickup chesukunna. I don't have to carry old PP anymore. | ||

Ok, two things: 1) US Residence proof - Does it require proof of address from both parents? I saw here that the answer is YES. 2) India address proof - my passport has my parents' address in India. But my wife's passport has US address. The confusion here is, since my wife's passport is having a different address, do i need to give my parents' address as proof? or since my passport has the right address, is it ok? | ||

When you are filling the application you need to provide a India resident details. If your parents living in same address you have in your Passport, you are fine, Just give same address and a ph# in the application | ||

Jalsa, Utility bill is enough. I did notary for apt lease agreement along with utility bill. My passport adress blore di vuntadi.. But adi nenu rent ki vunde time lo dhi U need not worry abt those. Dob kooda 1988 tarvatha puttina vallake anukunta...i didnt have dob certificate.. Since pio is for kid, u need to submit kid dob certificate. Its very simple.. U r unnecessarily worrying abt other docs. I applied for PIO in sfo thru mail and got it in < 10 days. | ||

I applied PIO 4 or 5 months back by mail at Chicago office. I got it with in 2 weeks. I am not sure they do it quickly if you go to consulate. | ||

You need to provide Utility bill (Gas or Water or Electricity) or Apartment rental contract if both names on it. Usually Indian consulate ask original Utility bill. If you get bills online, contact your company they will mail it. I think they do not accept cell phone bills or bank statements. | ||
